Evan wakes laying on a bedroll in a small room. It’s hardly comfortable, but it’s something. There’s no sign of the Lifebringer- or anyone, really. He'd soon realize his clothes have been changed- gone is whatever he was wearing before, replaced by a simple, robelike outfit entirely in black. Morning light filters in from the window, casting the entire small room in a dewy haze. The room is tiny- big enough only to fit the bedroll, a small basin for washing, a chest at the foot of the bedroll, and a low, small writing desk, on which is a folded piece of paper, labeled with Evan’s name, a clay tablet, and a porcelain face mask. The entire room is furnished in plain black tile, and opposite the window is a stone-paneled door leading out. The letter on the desk is written in small, neat script, reads as follows: Welcome, Evan Isaiahyauro Rei. You have been invited to compete in the Lifebringer’s tournament, in this, their hallowed domain. Not only have you received this honor, you have also been selected to compete alongside the Birds, under my leadership. If you have any concerns, or anything suspicious to report, please alert it to my presence. I will be watching you. Please wear the mask provided, as it is part of your uniform. Your Leader, Kairas Krosanyouri The mask was of black porcelain, and would sit on Evan’s face without falling, held there by some kind of magic. It only covered his eyes and upper faced, and mirrored the look of a bird’s face. Despite no eye-holes, Evan would be able to see clearly even with the mask on. The clay tablet was just too big to be held in one hand, and was accompained by a small stylus for writing. Its surface displayed the #group-chat, and would update magically as more messages were sent. If Evan investigated the chest, he'd find something curious. The chest is filled mostly with linens- bedding, towels, spare outfits, but at the top is both his little sack of small metal balls, and his Tamagotchi (as well as enough batteries to last a few weeks). Evan came to with a sharp gasp. The boy was sitting up and glancing around his small room wildly. It was small, too small, too small and uncomfortable. Whimpering quietly as he read the note, his hands began to shake once more. Metal coated his fingertips as he finished reading it. Oh, oh the anxiety was real. Oh, all of this was real. He had still been hoping that it was some kind of dream that he would’ve woken up from, but no, he wasn’t given that luxury. Sniffling, Evan picked up his mask and examined it. It was clearly well made, and quite beautiful. He placed it upon his face after a bit of time and couldn’t help but be confused by how it stayed. Though, he was also intrigued. Magic? Or was it the material itself? As Evan examined the chest, he was relieved to find his bag of metal, as well as his emotional support Tamagotchi. Thank god he had something familiar with him. Taking both, as well as having the clay tablet with him, Evan stood up. He needed to find Albanes sometime soon. He made his exit from the room. (edited)

Evan entered his room. He went to the basin and washed his face off. Once he was done, he curled up into his bed and hid under the covers. He felt like a child again when he’d have nightmares. Except, this nightmare was real. He was really going to die here. All he wanted to do was go home. All he wanted to do was feel safe and comfortable and be with his father and brother. He wanted to leave as soon as possible. Evan would lay in bed for what felt like hours, unable to sleep. The terror had him in a tight grasp. There’d be no way for him to rest. Maybe he’d leave and walk around.. Maybe..

It took Evan quite a while to eventually calm down. However, he still couldn't sleep as a racing mind kept the boy from drifting off. His father had always mentioned going for a short walk, or even reading a book to help ease one into a calmer state. Since he didn't have anything to read, he figured that maybe a walk would be nice. So, the boy crawled out of the safety of his bed, and made his way out of the room again.
