Carrion curls into himself on the floor, trembling and coughing. The god within screamed, writhing as it attempted to force the sand out of itself, pulsating with rage at the god that put them here. They scratch at their hair restlessly, sand sticking to their tangled hair. @em || enya 💥 + kenji 🌫

Once air returns to his lungs rather than sand, Kenji again crouches next to Carrion, hand hovering like he’s not sure whether touching them right now would be a good idea. “Hey,” he rasps, voice as dry as the wind outside, “Buddy. It’s okay. Just listen to me. Try and catch your breath first; you can do it.” His chest burns where his heart no longer sits. @Saj | Gale🌪+Carrion🍄

Carrion stills at his words, eye trailing up to him. They grab at his hand, skin rough and clammy from the heat and sand. He pauses to breathe before speaking. “..you’re..okay..? you…thhank you..” @em || enya 💥 + kenji 🌫

“Yeah, I’m.. I’m okay,” Kenji says with only a slight wheeze to the words, squeezing Carrion’s hand in reassurance before he slowly slides down the wall to sit with his back against it. “We’re… Well. I don’t want to say safe now, but at least it’s better than outside…” Glancing up to where Sadihak and Petrai are, he listens to their explanation with a growing grave expression. “Will you be okay if we go back out there?” He directs at Carrion, concern slipping back into his voice. There’s a different sort of aura about him, now, much different than the one Carrion had first sensed. More free. @Saj | Gale🌪+Carrion🍄

Carrion squeezed his hand back, slowly sitting up. “I- I’m glad.. I- you.. sscared me.” They looked at his new form, his purple eyes, wings, the feeling.. Life was gone, but the Death within.. it didn’t feel the same. More like Kenji than another force. “..I ssaw.. your message.” They glanced over as the plan was announced, eyes narrowing. “..I’ll be ffine. H-have to be..” @em || enya 💥 + kenji 🌫

Kenji lets out a quiet sigh, and despite the differences his apologetic smile is still very much him. "I..didn't mean to scare you, I'm sorry. I thought maybe that could help, but..." He presses a hand against his chest, crumbled stone and dark smoke spilling over his fingers. "...I didn't expect it to happen like that, honestly." He tenses a little bit as they're split into different groups. "After everything, we'll talk again, okay?" @Saj | Gale🌪+Carrion🍄

They look back to him, the hundreds of smaller eyes slowly opening within its dark. Decay is restless. “..help..? mmrm.. I w-want- we.. sshould t-talk.” Carrion gives his hand one last squeeze. “..Please be ssafe.” @em || enya 💥 + kenji 🌫
