On bruised, aching, living legs, Isi bounded through a familiar forest. Her mind buzzed with renewed whispers of all the living beings around her, and her body thrummed as blood remembered how to flow through her veins. Every breath stung her throat and chest, she had no idea how long she'd been running - long enough to show herself without a doubt that she could feel again, and therefore she was truly alive.
She briefly registered the lack of a certain weight in her bag- no little jar and no stubborn, hungry reminder of the past. She was fleetingly happy for that, then guilty, but not mournful, try as she might. The request made of her by Darcy before she'd stepped back into life rang in her ears persistently despite the myriad of feeling that should have overcome it. She'd become so tired of saying goodbye already, of last-word promises, and now she had one to keep for years to come.
She was almost scared to know whether or not the friend she was looking for had waited for her, it spurred her movements further- perhaps she could find him before she had to call on the life around her and ask. She certainly wasn't being stealthy and her eyes glanced around constantly as if every shadow could be dark, shiny fur. Everything still felt so familiar and unchanged, as if she hadn't even been gone a day let alone a week or so, but the worry gnawed at her mind all the same. She'd been avoiding it, but she was nearing the spot on the trail where she'd first been taken, she could recognize the place. As territory grew more and more memorably well traveled, she could only hope.
