Peregrine wakes in a dark, square room. The floor is dirt, but he's sitting on a woven rug. The walls are stone brick, and enclose them on every side. There’s no way in, and no way out. The room is suffocatingly warm, dark and dry. Peregrine would soon begin to feel thirst clawing at his throat. He woke laying on his stomach. He isn't restrained, and his wings are untouched. Before Peregrine, sat a small, low table, covered by a rug similar to the one they sat upon. Two oil lamps flicker at either ends of the table, their small lights the only in the room. The only other objects on the table are three small wooden bowls, all filled with an unidentifiable liquid. The first is white, opaque and creamy. The second is glassy and clear, with a slight cloudy, brownish color to it. The third is just as opaque as the first, but is a deep, muddy red in color. Across from the table is the only other person in the room. A young adult. They’re incredibly pale, with skin so light it’s almost translucent in the low light. Their straight, white hair is cut choppily over its brow and shoulders, and it wears a black-and-white tunic draped haphazardly over a shoulder. Their gaze is brilliant-gold and haunting, piercing through the barriers of Peregrine's mind. The person smiles widely, and finally speaks. As he wakes, Peregrine's eyes soften to the darkness, so used to squinting and straining against strobe lights all colours of the prism and the blinding whites of fancy hotels. He shifts himself to kneel, mindful of the dirt, scoffing at it even as the sound scratched his dry throat. He spares a glance to the bowls, then looks to the person, his head tilted. Against his energy levels, and certainly against his sore throat, he smiles and says, "Not where I'm usually taken but no harm in a change of pace..." @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

The person behind the table lifts a near-invisible eyebrow, intrigued by Peregrine's response. "Do you know why you are here?" @soul | kallum 🔥 + peregrine 🎭

The person smiled, seemingly taking a lot of delight in what they were about to say. "Wrong." They don't break eye contact with Peregrien for a second. They don't seem to blink. "You are here to compete." @soul | kallum 🔥 + peregrine 🎭

"Compete?" His eyebrow raises as he chuckles. "Not one of these again." His wings flick in memory, memory he tries to ignore. @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

"Yes." The person sat, silently, waiting for Peregrine to say something else. Its smile never faltered for a second. @soul | kallum 🔥 + peregrine 🎭

Peregrine smiles back. "Lifebringer... I suppose word's gotten around, somehow. You just can't keep your hands off me."

Peregrine's breath hitches, a hoarse gasp squeezing its way out of his mouth against his will. He rubs his neck and coughs to no avail, and keeps his gaze on it. The white liquid in the bowl is not what Peregrine was alluding to, but was actually milk. Goat's milk to be specific, though who knew if Peregrine would know the difference. It was mild and creamy, and kind of warm, overall a very neutral milk-drinking experience. Naiyta watched in silence the entire time Peregrine drank. @soul | kallum 🔥 + peregrine 🎭
