Carrion wakes in a dark, square room. The floor is dirt, but they’re sitting on a woven rug. The walls are stone brick, and enclose it on every side. There’s no way in, and no way out. The room is suffocatingly warm, dark and dry. Carrion would soon begin to feel thirst clawing at its throat. Carrion woke on its side, and would soon realise it'd been chained. A cuff on each limb tethers them to the ground and severely limits their range of motion. He'd still be able to move, but he wouldn't be able to flee. Before Carrion, sat a small, low table, covered by a rug similar to the one they sat upon. Two oil lamps flicker at either ends of the table, their small lights the only in the room. The only other objects on the table are three small wooden bowls, all filled with an unidentifiable liquid. The first is white, opaque and creamy. The second is glassy and clear, with a slight cloudy, brownish color to it. The third is just as opaque as the first, but is a deep, muddy red in color. Across from the table is the only other person in the room. A young adult. They’re incredibly pale, with skin so light it’s almost translucent in the low light. Their straight, white hair is cut choppily over its brow and shoulders, and it wears a black-and-white tunic draped haphazardly over a shoulder. Their gaze is brilliant-gold and haunting, piercing through the barriers of Carrion's mind. It scrutinizes Carrion not only with an aire of familiarity, but a certain, complete disgust. The person smiles widely, and finally speaks. Its voice is that of the flaming apparition. “Welcome to the Halcyon Citadel.” @Sauce | Gale🌪+Carrion🍄

Their eyes tear open. Immediately panic ceases his throat- the room is unfamiliar and strange, the chains tight around their body. Behind a mop of dark purple hair, wide, mismatched eyes meet haunting yellows, shivering as they feel the person staring through him and into It. Harsh breath escapes him. They attempt to stand, staggering as the chains hold them in place. His purple eye is searching desperately around the room for some sort of exit, yet the dark one remains fixated on the person before them. A tremor wracks their body and he grimaces as black, viscous liquid oozes from its eye. Finally, they speak. “H- why- What do you want.” His voice seems to change near the end, morphing to a strange, crackling voice. The voice once again shifts, returning to the weaker, higher voice for a moment. ”Hh, wh-what’s ha-“ He seems to choke on its words, the disgusting ichor further spilling out from their eye. ”What you want.. Within the oozing black, hundreds of It’s eyes appear, all fixated on the figure before them. “…Your existence… is not of importance… it is a blight to.. all that is natural.” “Decay has existed.. as long as life. The passage between.. Life and Death… That which brings change.. what allows new life.. You refuse.. to understand. Naiyta scoffed. "Can something end if it's everlasting? I am Eternity. I am immortality, given human shape. If I was not natural, tell me, would I exist?" There was a slightest tinge of hatred under its mocking voice. @Sauce | Gale🌪+Carrion🍄

”…You will end. Rot.” Their right hand raises, the same dark blood oozing from it. A mixture of terror and hate within their eyes, the mass of rot surges forward from their palm. @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs (edited)

Naiyta recoiled, reviled by the rotting of their hand. "I have spent the last ten thousand years ensuring that I will not die." It bristled. "I know now that I will never. I am as eternal as existence itself." @Sauce | Gale🌪+Carrion🍄

The mass misses completely, falling to the ground. It begins writhing towards Naiyta. The person containing the entity falls to his knees, gasping as if in pain. ”hh- Y-Yoli please- t-tell me whhats… whhy a-are we hhere?” His voice sounds raw, pained. @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

Naiyta's eyes slightly widened at the shifting voice. "The host dares speak." It hummed. @Sauce | Gale🌪+Carrion🍄

The a portion of the mass of eyes shift towards its host, the others still fixated on Naityta, still crawling towards it. The black of their right eye had drained, leaving behind an atrophied and scarred eye. “hh- pl-please, what’s happening.. let us out..” @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

"I have brought you here to compete. You have been brought here to die." Naiyta said simply. "Both of these things will happen." @Sauce | Gale🌪+Carrion🍄

The words clicked violently together in their mind. ’Here to die. Will happen.’ It was a command, not a choice. All it took was an understanding that the person before him was a threat, and the connection between entity and host coalesced. The mass suddenly grew stronger and larger, surging forwards. It smashed into the bowls of liquid in front of Naiyta, pouring past them and onto Naiyta. It would feel as if its skin were being torn away at by thousands of small insects, wet and sticky with mold and coagulated blood. @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

Naiyta scrambled away from Carrion- stepping up and backwards. They paused for a moment, catching laborious breaths, before enveloping their form in a golden, purifying light. In mere seconds, their body had returned to its normal form, and any remaining rot had burned away. "Putrid beast-" It spat. His eye is filled with an animalistic fear, their jaw trembling as they grin- the smile only showing on the left of his face, the skin on the right is weak. “Haa.. hahhhahaha! SHUT UP!! YOU- youuu.. I’m not y-yours, I’m ff- I’m FREE! LET ME OUT!!” They stand suddenly, thrashing wildly against the chains as he attempts to lunge at Naiyta. Their new form wasn't much different than how they had looked when first abducting Carrion, in the village. Carrion reels back, screaming in pain. The mass squirms away from the fire, returning to Carrion. They stare into the light, eyes wide with fear. An overwhelming need to run seizes them- turning away from the flame and towards their bound feet. They pull desperately against the chains, and they snap. @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

Naiyta, still flaming, stepped over the table and over to where they could stand over Carrion. They rested a hand on its forehead- oh, it still burned- and took only a moment to contemplate before thrusting them into unconsciousness. @Sauce | Gale🌪+Carrion🍄

They took too long to free themselves- by the time they turned back towards their attacker, its hand was burning against their skin. He couldn’t even scream before he was knocked unconscious.
