... (Pretend this takes place when no one else is here...) After his talk with Seki, Roman had walked out of the refectory and just wandered for a time. His fists were shaking, and his mouth was drawn in to a tight line. He walked and walked and walked, until his foot finally tripped over a loose root here. He fell to the ground with a quiet thump, and just screamed. It didn't even seem to be out of pain, but pure rage. He turned on his knees to the root and grabbed it, sinking his short nails in to the woody pulp surrounding it. He screamed again as he tore it out of the ground, leaving a large gap in the previous stone floor where the root had grown around. With the large root in hand, he began going around and striking anything that looked like it might break. Smaller plants, loose stones, anything. Over time his attacks were only getting more and more violent and strong, and eventually he smashed straight through a crumbling stone wall. Pieces of debris flew out everywhere beyond the strike, making even more of a mess of the courtyard. As the wall was coming down, a few tears slid down his cheeks, and the massacred root dropped from his clenched fists. With one more pathetic, weepy scream, he sank down to his knees and rested his forehead on the ground. With shaking hands he reached for the jar containing what remained of Roque, and held it close to his chest as he sobbed. "You.. you knew.. A-and you lied to me.." He sobbed. "Don't you know.. D-don't you know what I did because of that? Radysh and Rémoul- they didn't have to-.. Th-they didn't have to die!" @Vanessa | Cansu🐥+Evan🔩+Kal🌟

Perched up in a tree, Cansu watched with little interest as this person had a complete breakdown. Humans could be so painfully pathetic at times. Definitely sounded like this guy had fucking issues. Cansu would definitely wait to interact with this weirdo once he was done. Sobbing. @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

It took quite a while for Roman to stop sobbing, actually. He eventually collapsed down to his side and curled up around the eyeball jar, still sniffling.. @Vanessa | Cansu🐥+Evan🔩+Kal🌟

Cansu was both disgusted, yet intrigued, by the eyeball jar. “.. Why are you carrying that with you?” Cansu asked from his spot in the tree. @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

"AWAHG!" Roman yelped as Cansu suddenly spoke up, causing him to bolt up to a sitting position, gripping the jar tightly in his hands. "Wh- who are you? Wh-why are you just sitting in that tree?!" @Vanessa | Cansu🐥+Evan🔩+Kal🌟

“Because, it’s comfortable.” Cansu responded. “Now, that jar. Why do you have it?” @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

"I- I don't see why that's your business." Roman said and took one hand off the jar to try to quickly wipe his tears away. "Seeing as you were just sitting there creeping on me.. I- I don't see why I should tell you that." @Vanessa | Cansu🐥+Evan🔩+Kal🌟

“It’s not that I meant to watch you. I was perfectly comfortable in my tree when you trotted along.” Cansu shrugged. “I was here first.” @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

"..." Roman went silent and just sniffled for a bit longer. ".. Fine th-then I'll just- leave." He shakily got up to his feet and put the eyeball jar back on to his belt. He looked up at Cansu for a moment and sniffled one more time, moving his mouth just enough that Cansu would be able to barely see his sharp canines, before turning to leave... @Vanessa | Cansu🐥+Evan🔩+Kal🌟 '

“Before you do,” Cansu shifted in his spot in the tree. “What is your name?” @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

"Urgh- Roman." He mumbled, pronouncing it the lettuce way. And with that, he began his leisurely stroll away, stumbling a bit as he walked... @Vanessa | Cansu🐥+Evan🔩+Kal🌟

As soon as Roman had confirmed his identity, lightning struck down from the sky and hit Roman. He would feel the intensity of the electricity as it coursed through his body, momentarily disrupting his heartbeat. Cansu’s wings glowed with electricity as he glared down upon Roman. “So you’re the bastard who hurt and marked Reagan,” Cansu growled. @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

Oh Lord- As the lightning struck him, he screamed and fell on to the floor again. He gasped as his heart stopped beating for just a moment, and dug his nails in to the dirt as he felt it come back. Another bolt of lightning came down and struck Roman. This time, it was far more intense. The deity flew from the tree and hovered a distance above Roman, electricity dancing in his gaze. His eyes were narrowed. “They are MINE,” Cansu snapped at the human. “You will NEVER harm them again, unless you want to face my wrath.” @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

Again, he screamed out and spasmed as the lightning hit him. He was left in a smoking mess, his whole body tense and twitching as his nails sunk even deeper in to the dirt. Well, Roque had never hit him with lightning. But if she had somehow figured out a way to do that, Roman would have told her to not do it again. This was not at all fun. Oh, he wanted to say something.. But he knew he couldn't. He had to keep his secret, he promised. The only way to protect Cansu was to tell him nothing. He'd do whatever it took to keep Sadihak out of harm's way, even if it meant he'd have to take some beatings. It was worth it. They'd been through enough. .. He just kept pitifully gasping for air and crying as his body shook. His hand slowly traveled down to the eyeball jar and gripped on to it. @Vanessa | Cansu🐥+Evan🔩+Kal🌟

Roman grit his teeth together and tried to muster up enough strength to say something before Cansu grew too impatient and decided that killing him right here would work just as well. He really couldn't do anything, not without Cansu's blood..... Which he was in no position to be able to get right now. After some time of gathering his strength, Roman managed to whisper out something barely audible. ".. Y-yes.." @Vanessa | Cansu🐥+Evan🔩+Kal🌟

"Good, because if you harm them again, I'll make your death long and excruciating." Cansu glared. @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

Roman just weakly nodded. He didn't have the strength to say anything else.. But he moved his other hand to hold on to the eyeball jar as well. His grip on it was certainly almost enough to break that glass. @Vanessa | Cansu🐥+Evan🔩+Kal🌟

“Just so I get it through your thick skull..” Another bolt of lightning came down. However, it didn’t strike Roman: It hit the jar instead. The eyeball and blood came spilling out as the glass shattered. The stench filled the air. @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

Roman flinched as he saw the flash momentarily, but even before the thunder could be heard, his body reacted. A guttural scream shot out from him as his entire body convulsed. His hands wrapped around the eyes and pulled them close to his chest as the rest of him contorted and shook in agony. With them close, he let go and shot his hands forward scraping up the glass shards with his bare hands and trying to dig the blood up from the dirt it was quickly sinking in to. Fresh blood was mixing with the old as the glass cut in to his bony palms. His screaming remained at a constant level, and no matter what he did, his body would not stop twitching and shaking. Hot tears flowed down his face as he fruitlessly kept digging at the ground, trying to salvage anything he could. ... His gaze was growing distant, it didn't even really look like he was conscious. Cansu wouldn't have the oppurtunity to fully take off before another presence arrived in the garden. Naiyta stepped in, cold-faced and glowering, clearly upset with what had gone on here. It ignored Roman's wailing and weeping for now, and made eye contact with Cansu. "You were told not to fight the other contestants, were you not? What a shame you have already broken that rule. That, and the only other thing I told you not to do." It spared a glance towards Roman. "And you did it to my favored one, no less. Eugh." @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱 @Vanessa | Cansu🐥+Evan🔩+Kal🌟

Roman had absolutely no change in demeanor as Naiyta showed up. He just kept on... Sobbing and writhing. It seems like he wasn't even aware of what was happening around him. Cansu’s eyes narrowed. “I understand.” Honestly, he just wanted out of this conversation already. His work here was done. @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

"Leave." Naiyta commanded, because it seemed like Cansu was doing that anyways and they wanted to get the final word in. @Vanessa | Cansu🐥+Evan🔩+Kal🌟

As Cansu left, Naiyta turned to Roman. It crouched before him, and placed its hand over his, forcefully stalling his frantic scramble. "Hush. Your voice is so much prettier when you aren't killing it like this. And I am not in the mood to hear your cries." @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

Roman kept pushing against it's hand, still not even noticing that anyone was there with them. His screams continued. @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

Naiyta let go of Roman's hand, only for a moment. It dug its hands into the soft earth of the garden ground, forming into a basin. It shaped the vessel into a bowl in a seeminly impossible way, and it transformed in their hands into a fired, firm basin. They held the bowl in one hand, and it began to fill with dark, viscusous blood from some unknown source- like it was being poured from nothing. The blood stopped an inch below the rim of the bowl. It looked just like the bowl of blood had in the first room. Finally, Naiyta turned its attention back towards Roman. They wretched the eyes from his hand, and placed them both in the blood bowl, then turned back to Roman. "Better?" @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

Roman's fingers twitched as Naiyta took the eyes, and he made a desperate attempt to grab them again. As soon as the eyes were placed in the blood, Roman's movement and screaming finally stopped, and his whole body went still. He laid on the ground and coughed a few times before he took deep breaths, cold sweat covering his entire body. "Th-thank... you.." Roman whispered, his voice spent and hoarse. @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

Naiyta set the basin on the ground by Roman's side, and turned to them. It traced his jaw gently, almost affectionately, caringly- if they could feel such things as care or affection. "Of course. I would not let you suffer, when you have served me so dutifully. Especially not at the hands of the thunderbird." @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

Roman had no reaction to the touch as he just tried to catch his breath and calm down, but Naiyta would be able to feel his stubble growing back in. Pain was still radiating through his body, but it was quickly fading away. The pull had never been that strong before.. "Thunder.. bird.." Roman groggily repeated. It really seemed more like 'LIGHTNING BIRD OF DEATH' to him. He subconsciously leaned in to Naiyta's hand, but he hadn't even truly registered it actively yet. @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

"You need not worry about him any longer. If he acts out of turn again, I will make him pay. I will make him suffer." Naiyta continued gently stroking the side of Roman's face. @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

Wow, Cansu and Naiyta needed to have a dick measuring contest or something to settle this stupid feud, Naiyta was basically just quoting exactly what Cansu had just said.. "Mhm.." He mumbled and closed his eyes. The tenseness in his body was fading as he began to notice sensations other than pain again. "C-could you please.. h-heal me from the lightning.. please.. i-it hurts everywhere.." @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

"Of course." Naiyta cooed. From the contact between their fingertips and Roman's cheek, they began to heal the lightning damage. Roman would be overcome with a euphoric numbness- a whole-body warmth more intense than when Naiyta had healed them before. @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

Roman practically went entirely limp as the warmth spread through him. Slowly, he moved his right hand up and placed it over Naiyta's hand on his chin. He just sat there and took in some comforting deep breaths and soaked up Naiyta's touch for a while, before he slowly opened up his eyes and smiled weakly. "... I think you deserve something. For being my hero." Roman leaned his head to the side, cradling Naiyta's hand between his cheek and his bony shoulder. "I think I know something you'd like." @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

Naiyta looked almost affectionately to Roman, lounging peacefully on the grass, gently tracing his face. "Oh?" They said in a kinder tone they often spoke in. "What did you have in mind?" @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

Roman made sure to keep eye contact as they were moving to lay down. "There's a kitchen here, right..? You really enjoyed it last night, so.. Why not try it with something a bit more fancy? Roque would have me cook for her all the time, I can make it up any way you'd like." Roman smiled and wiggled his fingers on the back of Naiyta's hand. @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

Naiyta's eyes lit up in what seemed to be genuinely surprise. "Huh.... it's been quite a while since someone offered to cook for me." @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

"Of course, I'd love to lend you a hand in there." Roman snorted at his own joke and pushed himself up to a sitting position. "I'll make a separate dish for me, with a more.. Regular protein source. I haven't been able to cook for myself in quite a long time." @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

As Roman lifted himself up, Naiyta moved downward, to where they were fully laying on the grass with only their head slightly propped up on their hand. It even laughed slightly at Roman's joke. "Hm. You know, I usually like my meat raw, but the more I think about it the more appealing the idea becomes. Could you do something herby?" @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

"Herby.. I really don't have much meat to work with anywhere, so the pieces will be pretty thin. I'll have to make sure the herb taste doesn't overpower it.. What ones do you have around here to work with?" Roman asked and tilted his head down toward it. @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

"Mhmmmm... I do really like the way you taste, so I'd hate for that to get lost in the process." It looked back up to Roman with an amused glint in its golden eyes. "We have access to all the regular ones, I believe- parsley, sage, rosemary, all that. Roman smiled and nodded, before slowly lowering himself back to the ground. He crossed his arms behind his head and stretched out his body. "I think I can work with those... But I was pretty tense back there.. If you want some more tender pieces, you're gonna have to give me a good massage.." @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

"Ahhh... sure, you deserve it anyways." Naiyta smiled, almost warmly. It got up as Roman relaxed in the ground, and sat behind his head. It leaned over him, smiling down as they examined his face. "Do you want me to start with the hands?" @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

"The hands are easiest to, ah, detach and regrow without added hassle. Lots of bone, though." Naiyta mused, and idly began massaging Roman's shoulders. Their touch was gentle but firm, and their hands were unnervingly cold. @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

"Well you're really not going to get much off of my hands that I can cook.. I figured you'd flay off some bigger pieces from my thighs or something, enough to put in to actual strips." "Ahhh, that's an idea. You're probably right, thigh meat would be easier to cook with. I'll send for someone to bring my good knives from the acropolis, and we can get that done whenever you're ready." Naiyta still focused on Roman's shoulders for now- and for a moment it was almost like their main priority was giving him a relaxing experience, rather than tenderizing a piece of meat. @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

"Mm." Roman nodded and closed his eyes. He did find it a bit weird that Naiyta was still putting time in to his shoulders when they had just discussed his thighs, but maybe it just liked giving out massages..? @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

Naiyta continued for a while, before finally taking its hands off Roman's shoulders. They got up again, and moved over to his legs. "How are you feeling now?" It asked as it rested its hands on his thigh. @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

Roman rolled his shoulders a bit as Naiyta finally moved on. "Oh, pretty good. You've got nice hands too, Yta." Roman smiled. @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

"Good. I'm glad." It smiled at the compliment," Thank you," and began gently massaging Roman's thighs, just as it had his shoulders. @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

Roman was probably right to choose thighs, as they were just about the only part of him that had any girth. Overall, he was a man who walked a lot. And was down on his knees a lot. He had good sized legs. @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

Naiyta seemed to savor the motions and contact as they massaged Roman's thighs- for some freak reason or another, or maybe they just really liked physical contact like this. "You have very nice legs. More muscle than on the rest of you." It complimented idly. @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

"I do a lot of walking." Roman hummed. His legs twitched every once and a while as Naiyta hit an especially sore point. "I've been traveling for the past year, after all. A lot by foot." @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

"Mhm. Sometimes I forget it's not normal for people to do that anymore." Naiyta hummed, and continued on. "I travelled mostly on foot, back before... most of this." @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

"Well I was traveling across multiple countries.. I'm guessing you probably didn't stray too far from home very quick." Roman said. "But yeah, a got a few car rides.. Hid away on barges.. took a sketchy flight.. Anything to get to my goal." @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

"I used to be a goatherd, I traveled with my flock. But yes, I never crossed national boarders or traveled far until later in life. In part because the concept of a nation did not exist yet." A coarse laugh rose in the back of its throat. "Your goal? And what might that be?" @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

"Well, my goal was to kill someone Petrai, and I was just getting to her house when I got, ah, taken by you.. That's why I was mad back at the gala. I was very close." @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

"Mhmm." Naiyta regarded Roman, a slight displeasure in their eyes. It probably liked him better when dying at its feet was his only option. "You do still intend on dying here, don't you? That is what I ultimately require of you." @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

"That... is a complicated question with a complicated answer." Naiyta sighed. "Typically, it is supposed to be a pleasant, eternal nothing- a non-existence of warmth and bliss, like a dreamless sleep." "However," Naiyta's tone grew annoyed. "My successor has made some.. changes. I am not certain exactly what she has done, but I know things are not as they should be. That is what I am trying to fix through this tournament." @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

Naiyta sighed again. "My successor has barred me from entering the Fold. It is one the few aspects of the Godhiid where she, as Regnant Lifebringer, has more power than me. I am trying to get in, through your deaths." @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱 (edited)
