After a rather interesting conversation with the deer man, the gala was over. The announcement of opponents didn't really tickle Invo's interest as he thought it would. He would kill anyone put against him, that much was certain. Ditching the party, he traveled up several shadows to get away from the crowd and lights. He was tired of trying to blend in with the rest of the fools in the Gala. Invo eventually made his way to the observatory. It wasn't anything like he had ever seen before. Curiously, he ventured around in the dark corners and looked up at the stars above him. It was a rather pleasant experience, one that reminded him of home. Invo still bore his mask, but was still in his gala outfit as well. It made him easier to see despite the darkness. @soul | kallum 🔥 + peregrine 🎭

Kallum had spent the rest of his time in the gala avoiding people, staying put and looking grouchy enough to put off any fool who thought he might be a good conversationalist. Once it was over, he had stuffed his mask inside his clothes and retreated from the gala. Instead of returning to his room, he chose to storm around the surrounding area and found himself in the observatory. It would be a good place to know, he thought, though he wasn't sure why. Nothing he could do in there that would- he could keep himself safe. It was this thought process that was interrupted as he spotted the stranger, leaping out of his skin and brandishing his fists- sparks of fire too- not billowing flames. Instinct. Lurking was- it wasn't a threat, no, not to him. A threat in general. @Aj | Invo + Ryunoske

It was such a pretty night sky. It was the only thing Invo could give to the Lifebringer here. Of course, that serene silence would be ruined by some imbecile. The noise that approached was what garnered Invo's attention at first, but it was the sparks of fire that caused Invo to jump into a defensive position. He raised his fists up, glaring at the other man and taking a small step back. "What are you doing?" He asked with an accusatory tone. @soul | kallum 🔥 + peregrine 🎭

"What are you doing?" Kallum shot back, fists raising closer to him- defensive, not an attack- he could attack, he could. "Shut up." He stepped back as well, eyes on Invo. @Aj | Invo + Ryunoske

A look of confusion crossed Invo's expression as Kallum returned the question and he huffed. "I asked you first. How about you answer me?" Invo retorted and took the smallest inch forward. This guy seemed to have fire powers... Invo could handle that. "I know how to kill a man over a hundred ways. I recommend you explain yourself." @soul | kallum 🔥 + peregrine 🎭

Kallum's fists spluttered with embers as Invo stepped forward. "I was- I'm trained to protect people- and myself. I could kill. Too," he stammered in response. "...I'm looking around. Didn't know you were here. Why are you here?" @Aj | Invo + Ryunoske

Kallum shouldn't have said that he could kill. In a blink, Invo sunk down into the shadows and what would feel like hands grabbed onto one of Kallum's ankle and wrist. They pulled Kallum down onto his knees as Invo's voice appeared right in front of him. "I doubt you could kill me, but I'll humor you. I'm simply here for some peace and quiet. That was until you threatened me," Invo said as he stepped up in front of Kallum, his form reveling in the moonlight and Kallum's flames. @soul | kallum 🔥 + peregrine 🎭

(tw flashback with heavily implied choking and depictions of violence) Kallum thrashed as he was grabbed, the electric rising up in and- that spark became a blaze- engulfing his body as he was dragged down. Back. His arm pinned down by elbows, knees into his stomach, frenzied drool dripping on his face, into his open mouth- no breath, no air, just desperate gasps and coughing- suddenly over, wrenched away, air forced back in, chest hurting, wrists held back- stopped from fighting back. He couldn't fight back. Fight had been taken from him. Kallum blazed as Invo talked, the fire doing no harm. "Didn't-" He coughed out, then took big gulps of breath. Because he could. Vivid shadows spurred from the light as Kallum burned, and Invo looked down at him with a hum. "Why don't you shut up?" Invo huffed. "And while you're at it, stop burning. You'll tear down the one decent place that blasted Lifebringer created." The hands that held Kallum let him go, but their presence never truly faded. @soul | kallum 🔥 + peregrine 🎭

Kallum grabbed his wrists tightly, then scraped his arms along his body- get rid of the electric, get rid of it. He shot back up to a stand and the fire continued to roar, only to snap out, suddenly gone. "Don't touch me. You're nothing." @Aj | Invo + Ryunoske

Invo scoffed, looking down at Kallum through his mask. "I didn't even touch you," he said and gestured his hands slightly upwards to show he hadn't moved them. "You're quite the babbling one, aren't you? If you want a fight, I'd be happy to give it to you." @soul | kallum 🔥 + peregrine 🎭

Kallum glowered at Invo. "Nothing touches me." His glower became wrinkled with confusion as he mouthed 'babbling?'- but he said no more. He could fight. He could fight and be strong agai- be strong, entirely, because he was- always was. @Aj | Invo + Ryunoske

Invo raised a brow at Kallum and looked him up and down. "Nothing? You're quite literally wearing clothes and the such. I'm sure that is 'something'," he remarked with a slight snark. "Regardless, if you're just going to bother me, you can leave. I would like to enjoy the night if I can." @soul | kallum 🔥 + peregrine 🎭

"You have nothing in your head- stupid." Kallum ran his hand down his clothes instead of replying to Invo again. Not his choice. Not his colour. Not his. @Aj | Invo + Ryunoske

Invo's lip twitched. "I have a brain, idiot. Everyone does. Even you, despite being a fool," he huffed. "And a skull. And tissue. And everything else a human has. What are you trying to get at?" @soul | kallum 🔥 + peregrine 🎭

"You don't use it." Kallum flicked an ember from hand to hand. "I'm stronger than a normal human." @Aj | Invo + Ryunoske

"I don't use it? You must be thinking of yourself," Invo huffed. He looked Kallum up and down again before snickering. "You look weaker than an insect. No stronger than a bug." @soul | kallum 🔥 + peregrine 🎭

Kallum curled his fists tighter, fire trapped within the core. "I was trained to be one of the strongest Guardians in my city." @Aj | Invo + Ryunoske

Invo hummed, holding it for an exaggerated and dismissive tone. "You're the strongest your city has to offer? I pity them, in that case," he chuckled. "I bet you couldn't even beat me in an arm wrestle." @soul | kallum 🔥 + peregrine 🎭

Kallum scrunched his nose up. "What are you strong for? What's your purpose?" @Aj | Invo + Ryunoske

"Me?" Invo smirked and folded his arms across his chest. "I, soul and flesh, am meant to serve the Great Hmarab. Whatever She sees fit, I do. Your puny little mind couldn't even fathom how powerful She is." @soul | kallum 🔥 + peregrine 🎭

Kallum narrowed his eyes. "Who is that?" Sounds fake but okay. @Aj | Invo + Ryunoske

For once, Invo seemed to be in a good mood. Talking about his God always seemed to do that. "The Great Hmarab is the all powerful Creation God... existing to bless and cultivate all of society. She has power you nor I could even begin to imagine. All life and energy prospers thanks to Her," he explained. "Though, I doubt you would understand even if She were to come speak to you Herself." @soul | kallum 🔥 + peregrine 🎭

Kallum did not look impressed at all. "If she's so powerful, why does she need you to do stuff for her?" He questioned, squinting. Half a genuine question, half insult. @Aj | Invo + Ryunoske

Even with the mask, Kallum would be able to tell Invo was glaring at him. "Does a King simply sit on a throne and laze about all day? Is a major or a ruler nothing but a figurehead? No, of course not," Invo spoke rhetorically. "The Great Hmarab's influence is wide and ever growing. Fools begin to become scared of a power they can't comprehend. We foot soldiers dedicate our being to Her so she may focus on the greater things, while we take care of the trash." @soul | kallum 🔥 + peregrine 🎭

"That's a King," Kallum said plainly, stepping backwards slightly. Not afraid. Not afraid. "That's different. They're strong, and can defend themselves. And they exist." Atheist Kallum vs Invo. "Your power is just grabbing people without your hands." @Aj | Invo + Ryunoske

Again, despite the mask, Kallum would be able to tell Invo was rolling his eyes. "Talking to you is like talking to rubish..." He grumbled. "My power is something gifted to me by the Great Hmarab. Don't you dare speak down about it. Yours just seem to be some flashy fire. Plenty of people have that." @soul | kallum 🔥 + peregrine 🎭

"You're a coward hiding behind your mask," Kallum said, totally not because he hated the masks. Totally not for sensory reasons. "You're like talking to nothing." "Fire burns." Kallum looked at the floor, huffing. "And it exists." Well he'd already said that but he'd say it again. "Bye." Oh. He was. He was starting to leave. Kallum. @Aj | Invo + Ryunoske

Invo couldn't hold it in any longer--He needed to physically teach this idiot a lesson. Seems like nothing was getting through the empty cavern that was Kallum's head. Maybe a punch or two would. "Where do you think you're-" Invo moved to chase after Kallum, but perhaps it was his rage, his bad luck, or his idiocy, but Invo tripped on what seemed to be a comedically timed crack in the flooring. He fell straight forward, his face landing with a loud CRACK as he met the concrete floor. He grunted in pain, the force enough to crack right through his mask. "Shit-!" Invo coughed, quickly scrambling to try and regain himself. He forced himself up as his mask crumbled onto the ground, revealing his face in full for the first time. Kallum would be able to see his scar in full, as well as the annoyed expression on Invo's face. And perhaps some blood dripping down his nose from the fall. @soul | kallum 🔥 + peregrine 🎭

Kallum stared at Invo for a long time. Oh no he's hot. Kallum abruptly turned his head away, stared at his hands and the embers flickering against his fingertips. Gradually looking back at Invo again, he only blinked, unimpressed, and then left. Kallum this isn't how you end an interaction. Kallum this is way too short. @Aj | Invo + Ryunoske
