Roman was led up to a different part of the stands- a private box overlooking the arena. There were nicer, plush seats and a better view of what was happening. Albanes was already there, and looked up as Roman entered. "Oh, hello again, Roman." @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

Damn, Albanes was sitting in the nice seats the whole time! "Hey, Banes!" Roman said, way too casually. He had his hair tied back with his blood drumsticks placed in the bun, like how he used to wear it. He strolled over to the seat right next to Albanes, close enough that the side of his wing hit her shoulder, seemingly on accident. He smiled, showing off his recently sharpened teeth. @inn\ (edited)

He looked down over at the fight, scanning over the crowd. What a weird arena.. "Who do you thinks gonna win?" Roman asked, probably not really expecting a response.

"I can't tell." Albanes shrugged. "The translator one, probably." @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

"Hmm, maybe." Roman said. "But I talked to him, and he isn't very excited about winning, either. I wouldn't be surprised if it's just a race straight to the bottom." @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

"This is kind of giving me second hand embarrassment."

"What?"

"What um- what happens if Darcy kills Peregrine before Naiyta can get to him?" Roman frowned. Perhaps suspiciously. @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

"Mhm. Yeah."

"DARCY." Roman shouted, his hands gripping on tightly to his pants. This was not the plan- unless Naiyta got there now it would all be for nothing- nothing-... This plan had to work!

"Oh- Oh, wow." Albanes grimaced. It wasn't clear if she was... doing anything at the moment.

No no no no no this didn't need to happen like this! Naiyta was approaching- it was too late for Peregrine, but maybe it could get through with Darcy. It wasn't over yet. Roman grabbed one of his drumsticks out and it instantly shifted out to a dagger. He thought about mumbling an apology, but chose to instantly lunge for Albanes. The first thing he would go for would be biting her neck, and then while she was trying to push his head away, he'd go for the gut stab.

Albanes gasped in pain, but couldn't move out of the way. "Let me go. You won't be able to kill me." The blood he was taking from her was starting to burn in his throat and stomach. He'd start to feel incredibly sick. @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

It hurt, of course it hurt, but he had to keep trying. Maybe there was some crazy case where if he got enough of this burning liquid, he'd be able to control her. Maybe it wasn't too late. Albanes wrestled her way out of Roman's grip and stood up. The wounds instantly healed, and she was enveloped in a golden light briefly before dissapearing completely. ... Roman would feel like vomiting. @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

Roman collapsed down on to the seat she was previously sitting on, and dropped his knife to the floor. He held his hands over his stomach as golden liquid dripped down from his mouth, but he refused to part with any of it. He would never get a chance to bite a Lifebringer and get away with it- he had to keep it, even if the chance it could achieve anything was little to none. He groaned miserably and grit his teeth together.

Roman would hear soft, familiar footsteps approaching. "You failed." It hissed. @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

Roman was still laying across the chairs, golden blood covering his face. His gaze was half distant, but his face was contorted in pain. "I- urk-" He put his hand over his mouth, so tightly that his nails were digging in to his cheek. He swallowed, hard, and tried to speak. ".. I-i tried my best I- I held on.." His voice was scratchy and rough, it was hard to even understand what he was saying. @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

"You had one job!" Naiyta shouted, standing over Roman. "Only one! And you failed it! She took them both! And do you know where she is now? She followed them! She's in the fold now!" @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

Well, this was familiar to him. He moved his hands over his ears and curled in to a tight ball. He didn't want to look at or even hear whatever it was that Naiyta had to say here. @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

"You idiot! I was relying on you! We were all relying on you! Do you have any idea what you've done? Any idea what will happen now? You've doomed us all!" @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

You've doomed us all. Of course he had. He was a curse. He was a cursed child, and he was now a cursed pathetic adult man. Why did anyone even have faith in him in the first place? When had he ever done anything right? As he let out a single sob, he couldn't hold back the burning liquid anymore. He threw it all up next to Naiyta's feet. It was a large amount of blood- much more than he could have gotten from a short bite. His dagger hovered up from the floor and in to his hand. He shakily held out the handle toward Naiyta. "J-just kill me now. Use me. A-Albanes can't in-interfere if she's not even on this plane." Roman said, his voice sounding even worse now. "I-I'm sorry. I love you. Naiyta stepped away- from Roman, from the blade, from the vomited-up blood. "Oh, I will." It said, scorn lacing every syllable. "But not now." @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

"Please-" Roman whispered. He wouldn't be able to face the staff after this. Not after he had failed all of them. He had promised to get them home, he had gotten their hopes up.. He held the knife out further toward Naiyta, before pulling it back in to himself. Would there be a better chance than this? Albanes wasn't here, Naiyta was. There couldn't be another, better, time. He positioned the knife over his heart, leaving Naiyta with only a few moments in which to decide what to do. @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

Naiyta took the knife, wretching it from his grip and holding it so he wouldn't be able to take it back. "No. Enough of that. I can't go into the fold while she's in there, anyways. Having three Lifebringer souls present within it would tear the place apart. Which is why we have to wait." @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

Roman instinctively reached for the blade to try to get it back, but was nowhere near as fast or strong as Naiyta was at this moment. "W-wait for what, my lord..? I- I did everything I could, I landed both my attacks.. If this didn't work, I-I don't know what else possibly will.." Roman mumbled. @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

"I'm not giving up. I can't give up now. Not with what's at stake." Naiyta said simply. "I'll simply have to try again." @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

"If you burn me at the stake y-you can't- you can't keep me f-forever like you want." Roman said and reached out toward it. "Y-you'll be alone without me. Y-you can't let me die." @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

Naiyta stepped back. "I must place the safety of the Infinite above my own desires." @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

Roman kept trying to reach for them, until his arms gave out and fell in front of him. "But- please I can't-" Roman was mumbling, frantically, trying to think of anything he could possibly say that would get Naiyta to reconsider, if even for a moment. His train of thought was so rapid that he hardly thought before blurting, "M-me and Raikal are related." @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

"What?" Naiyta's brow furrowed. "How could you know that? She lived thousands of years before you." @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

"W-with my powers. I could sense it wh-when I spoke with Raikal." A half truth, that hopefully Naiyta wouldn't be able to logically see straight through.. Unless he could get them to start believing in ghost blood. @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

Naiyta's brow furrowed. Did it believe Roman or not. "You would be able to pick up on something like that, after so many generations?" @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

"How did you get Raikal's blood?" Naiyta glanced Roman up and down. "They don't have blood, they're a bodiless spirit. All that remains of Raikal's blood is in my possession, and you can't access it." @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

.. Of course Naiyta kept Raikal's blood.. Typical freak behavior. "Uh-" That was a good question, though. "Th-the blood I drank at the beginning, that y-you gave me.. F-felt similar to the vibe I got from Raikal, yeah?" He didn't sound very sure himself. "If you have their blood, can't you- well, I guess you couldn't compare it to my fucked up blood.. "There's a.. a.." Roman winced as the pain got worse, and moved a hand over his forehead. "Th-there's some presence in m-my head. Sh-she told me. She's benevolent, though, I think. Sh-she doesn't want to get involved with you, or any of this." @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

"You-" the pain in his head was becoming splitting. He winced, and had to take a deep breath. "Y-you are my god. The o-only god that matters." @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

"Good." Naiyta nodded, clearly reassured. "I am your God. The only object of your devotion." @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

"Yes-" Roman said. The pain was getting to be overwhelming, to the point where he found it hard to speak at all. He closed his eyes and leaned his head back against the gold blood stained seat. @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

As it remained outside of Albanes's body, the blood was fading to a more regular red color. It still retained a bit of the shimmer, though. Naiyta stood where it was, taking in deep breaths. @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

Good, he had somehow managed to salvage this.. Was he in a better place? No, definitely not, but it didn't seem like Naiyta was so actively infuriated anymore. He gripped on to Naiyta's hand tightly. "I-i think- i think I'm not r-reacting well to the Lifebringer blood.." He said weakly. Maybe that was half of it, but the other half was definitely a jealous god who thought he was a dumbass trying to teach him a lesson. @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

"You already vomited most of it out." Naiyta said, sidestepping most of the thrown up blood to crouch near Roman. @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

"M-most, yeah, but I tried t-to keep as much as I could.. I'm not sure i-if I can even use it, though.." The blood also stained the entire bottom half of his face. And his hands. @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

"You should try to throw up anything you still can." Naiyta advised. "At this point, it doesn't matter if you can control her or not." @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

Roman painfully rolled over to his stomach, and moved his head off of the chair. He gagged a few times, and managed to spit up a few more bits of blood. That didn't make him feel much better, and also left him wheezing for air. "A-am I.. still pretty?" @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

Naiyta crouched over Roman, and helped hold his hair back as he threw up. It cupped his face, and wiped away some of the blood from his lips. "Mhm. You're beautiful." @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

"I-i'm glad someone can th-think so.." Roman mumbled and let his head to limp off the chair. @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

Naiyta sat down in front of Roman. It cupped his face and began gently massaging his brow and temples, using their powers to form a warm numbness across his body through the contact. It didn't seem to mind the mess of the blood, and hummed a light tune for him. @Mads | Roman 🥁 Asha 🎆 ? 🪱

As the pain was numbed, and Naiyta hummed the song, Roman quickly fell asleep. He was limp in their hands as his breathing slowed. @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs
