Ulexite emerged from the salt flat planet L-227G in the middle of the gem war and was immediately put to use as a communications officer. She was the one who intercepted the transmission about Pink's shattering and passed it on to the diamonds. After the war, Lex continued her position as a communications officer. Later in life, Ulexite was accused of having shattered Pyrrhotite, a high-ranking gem. Ulexite, confident in the fact she hadn't shattered a gem she had never met, tried to defend herself in court (with the assistance of Honey Zircon), but her efforts were in vain when she was branded the shatterer. Ulexite ran away from her execution and eventually made her way to plane K-232J where she speant a few hundred years in solitude. Eventually she met Zebra Agate, a rebel gem who had been stranded there after the war, and Opalite, a cross-gem fusion also on the run from homeworld. Currently Lex is still stranded on K-232J.
