gale wakes

Gale wakes laying on a bedroll in a small room. It’s hardly comfortable, but it’s something. There’s no sign of the Lifebringer- or anyone, really. They’d soon realize their clothes have been changed- gone is whatever she was wearing before, replaced by a simple, robelike outfit entirely in white. Morning light filters in from the window, casting the entire small room in a dewy haze. The room is tiny- big enough only to fit the bedroll, a small basin for washing, a chest at the foot of the bedroll, and a low, small writing desk, on which is a folded piece of paper, labeled with Gale’s name, a clay tablet, and a porcelain face mask. The entire room is furnished in plain white tile, and opposite the window is a stone-paneled door leading out. The letter on the desk is written in ornate, swirling script, reads as follows:

Welcome, Gale Steveyouri Davenport!

It is my pleasure to welcome you, not only to the Halcyon Citadel, but to the Snakes! You have been selected, by the Great and Divine Lifebringer, to serve and compete alongside your fellow serpentine contestants and under my gracious leadership. If you have any concerns or run into any trouble, please do not hesitate to bring it to my attention. I’m very excited to meet you all! 

Please wear the mask provided, as it is part of your uniform! You have been provided with clothing items for support and motivation, but please do not wear these as it is not part of your uniform.

The mask was of white porcelain, and would sit on Gale’s face without falling, held there by some kind of magic. It only covered their eyes and upper faced, and mirrored the look of a snake’s face. Despite no eye-holes, Gale would be able to see clearly even with the mask on. The clay tablet was just too big to be held in one hand, and was accompained by a small stylus for writing. Its surface displayed the #group-chat, and would update magically as more messages were sent. If Gale investigated the chest, they’d find something curious. The chest is filled mostly with linens- bedding, towels, spare outfits, but at the top is the denim jacket she had been holding when she was taken. (edited)

Gale wakes, and quickly realizes that she wasn’t dreaming. The room is cramped, and the new clothes on her back give her a sinking feeling in her stomach. They stand and move to the desk, stopping to read over the note. “…The fuck is this, some weird ass summer camp..?” The wording was strange for a competition to the death. She was thinking of putting on the mask before she read over the last line- personal items. She dropped the letter and moved to the chest, relief palpable as her hands met familiar fabric. They hugged the jacket close, and after a moment put it on over the robe. Slightly more comfortable, she glanced to the tablet, but decided to leave it and go look around first. They picked up the mask and left the room.

Kyrie woke up from pleasant dreams, to find the even more pleasant waking world where she, Ellie, and Gale were all together. After Ace's fight, and after all that had followed it, they had all decided to take some time to rest. They needed it. They deserved it. And Kyrie was glad- sharing a bed with someone, in such a pure and loving way, was something she would always cherish. This- what she shared with her two girlfriends (her girlfriends!) now, was something she would always cherish. She didn't move from their sleeping position, but looked around enough to see that both Ellie and Gale were still resting. As they deserved. Warm. The bed felt all warm and nice and toasty, and it didn't feel real. But man, if she wanted this to last forever. Girlfriends. Girlfriends- Gale 'n Ky. Her Gale 'n Ky. Cute. So, so cute. Ellie was laid on her good arm, half-drooling and half-snoring as she continued to sleep. Her other arm, wrapped and bandaged up with some spare fabric, still hurt like a truck, but while she was asleep she had no concept of pain. Just coziness. Pure coziness. Her legs were very much tangled up in Gale's, though. Mmh. Gale was sleeping soundly, heavy thoughts from before quieted by her partners love. She had cuddled up to Ellie, face nestled up to its shoulder. They stirred slightly, but only settled in further, cozy as could be. @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs @Kip | Ace 🏹 / Ellie 📷

There was some snort-noise that Ellie made when she rolled over, laying slightly more on Gale's side. (Cozy. Soft. Cozy 'n soft 'n like, real nice.) The noise of Ky's voice and wings shufflin' about seemed to rouse her from her sleep, but it wasn't enough. "s'nighttime?" it murmured, not yet moving. It mashed it's face into Ky's side. Gale stirred, pouting as Ellie moved away and finally opening her eyes. “mmhh.. bwuh? ‘s night already..?” They sat up a bit, showing off their messy hair as she rubbed at her face. @Kip | Ace 🏹 / Ellie 📷 @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

Ellie blinked blearily, peering up at Ky and Gale the best it could. Damn- they slept through the entire day? "mm," it yawned, feeling drowsy all over again. "i...guess yesterday did take a lot outta us." Like. A LOT. She laid her head back down next to Ky, watching her girlfriends tend to each other. Cuuute.
