MASKTOURN

The arena has been transformed again- once again into a dense, taiga-like woodland. A dense canopy of pine hangs above them, with ferns and bushes underneath, setting an image of an idyllic, greeting-card from a national park worthy forest. Idyllic, at least, until the contestants begin to notice the scent of smoke hanging thick in the air. The terrain of the arena slopes gently upwards, and the path before them is already smoldering. A looming cliff stands at the end of the arena, and at the top of that cliff stands a pedestal with the fight’s relic- a metal sculpture of a lily, cast entirely of gold. The contestants enter from the same area, and can easily talk and interact with each other. Naiyta’s voice rang over the arena. “Welcome, contestants, to the next match within the tournament. This fight is between Kyrie Korlanyouri Coalfoot, representing the Bird team, and Isi Ronaldyouri, representing the Snake team.” “The goal of this match is to retrieve the relic on the cliff. The first to place a hand on this relic, or the first to knock their opponent unconscious, will be deemed the victor. The loser will be put to death. Good luck to both competitors, and may the spoils of war go to the rightful victor.”

 
This arena is divided into THREE PARTS. Each part can be cleared by three successful dexterity rolls. 

For every failed dexterity roll, your character will take environmental damage that increases the closer you get to the relic:

AREA 1: d2 
AREA 2: d4
AREA 3: d6

The third area (the cliff) can be cleared in one dexterity roll by a flying character, but takes 3 dexterity rolls to be cleared by a non-flying character.

Kyrie walked into the arena, instantly noticing the smell of smoke. She stilled, unable to move for the time being....

Isi walked into the arena, also instantly noticing the smoky smell and getting nauseating flashbacks to her last fight. She stared up at the - gold something. "....Oh you're kidding me" Her face scrunched in disbelief. She really didn't want to look at Kyrie.

As she reached the cliff, Kyrie shot up into the air, landing on top of the cliff and taking the lily into her hand. She grasped in harshly- nearly crushing its delicate petals. She won. She actually won. She couldn't think of anything else.

Isi watched, frozen as Kyrie shot up the cliff. It was over. It was over and Kyrie had the flower. Her chest started rising and falling too quickly and her face started to dissolve into something that could only be described as horror, she started shaking her head. Not that anyone could hear it, but she could only say no over and over as what was about to happen hit her. Instinct took over and she simply turned around ran, not that there were many places to run to- but she just ran through thet trees, flames, field- anywhere. It was all she could think to do.

Angry, desperate tears were falling down Isi's face now. "I don't want to die! I can't- I-" She sounded angry and then her shoulders heaved as if she were sobbing and then- she was. "I don't want to die" Her voice broke on the last word and she just stumbled backwards, tears falling freely now. She couldn't even run now.

Isi went completely limp. If she'd had any say, she'd have wanted her last thoughts to be of her friends. As it was, she was just so afraid. As Isi collpased, Naiyta stepped away from her body. They faced the crowd. "Victory to the birds." They then turned to Kyrie, still up on the cliff, and made eye contact with her for a long moment before leaving with Isi's body....
