Roy moved closer, resting his head onto Eben. The three of them were almost embracing like this.

As Roy moved closer, Eben couldn't help but feel so very content. It felt so right to have the warmth of others again, to have Inu and Roy. For a brief moment, he let himself hope that he could live a longer, happier life with them. Because it seemed so certain now. Anything of his disease now lived with another, and would die as such. For once Eben did not care if he was deserving of this freedom or this love, he wanted it and he had it, and that was all that mattered.

His hope stuttered as a pain threaded itself through his chest, into his lungs. It seemed not to matter that he didn't care what he deserved after all. He stumbled slightly, leaning more into Roy's left side for support.

This was when he felt it, a certain heaviness, a numbness spreading from his core to his extremities, and once that numbness reached his fingers, it was already too late, and he did not understand what was happening in time to bring his guard up.

Roy would feel it first, or more exactly, cease to feel it. Suddenly, from the left side of his neck all the way up to his cheekbone would go completely numb, as would a portion of skin on his arm, where Eben held it.

Inu was more lucky, a thin layer of clothing protecting him a little, though he would cease to feel in a line across his back, following Ebens arm.

It only took a second for that all to take place, only a second for Eben to understand and violently rip himself from the embrace with a strangled yell, stumbling against the railing. Ordinarily, the constant, practiced restraint and tension Eben had carried for so long would have been enough to quell his petrification just long enough for him to get away without harming, as it did while Yeonaixho had syphoned away his abilities not long ago. But that guard had been no where to be found, because Eben had been so foolishly sure he had no need of it anymore, and the results were disastrous.

He began to shake his head, eyes transfixed on his partners in horror, backing away further along the rail.

Inu opened his mouth to speak before his eyes went wide and he dropped to his knees with a strangled cough. Inu placed his head onto the floor and inhaled sharply. Fuck. fuck. Ow. Inu's eyes filled up with tears and he squeezed his eyes shut now, trying to push down the pain but it didn't work. Oh god his head was throbbing.

Slowly, the color returned back to his sclera, the normal yellow and blue shining slightly. Inu looked over his shoulder and opened his mouth briefly before he winced as the pounding continued in the back of his skull. They had..their powers back...and now...oh...Eben...

Inu winched slightly before he shakily pushed himself to his feet as he gripped onto the railing for support. "...Vengestone.." He mumbled. "...I can...we can get you some.." He whispered. "It...it will..cancel your powers..I can..use my portals.."

"We..we can leave..through the portals...go.." He placed his palm to his forehead, his vision swarming. "..Then..then go home..?"

As his partners dropped, Roy’s heart accelerated with panic and confusion. “Wh- what’s-“ And then he felt it.

Climbing up his arm and throat, the tingling feeling of his lighting would spike with fear and then cease. The complete lack of sensation, it was something he hadn’t felt in years.

The lack of feeling in his arm clicked some sort of mechanism in his mind. The icy fear that came with losing his arm flashed through him.

Dear god, so much was happening.

He stood frozen, like a deer in headlights. He mouth moved like he wanted to speak, but was too overwhelmed to form words.

Eben was completely backed up against the railing, and in these painful, guilty moments he wished he had the selflessness to let the ocean swallow him. the thought alarmed him, but only barely so, and he tightened his hold on the railing. He'd been so careful. He'd been so careful and it hadn't mattered, he now saw that he would only hurt people, especially those unfortunate enough to be close to him.

*"I'm sorry. I'm so- I'm so incredibly sorry." He couldn't make himself look away from Roy's frozen face, he barely registered Inu's suggestions. Home? Why would he go with them? Why would they allow that risk?

Inu shook his head. "No- don't- don't apologize-" He said softly. "I-I-it's okay. I-It's alright.." He smiled slightly, sticking out his hand slightly in an attempt to summon a portal but it failed. Was he too..weak? Maybe. Inu let out a small curse under his breath before he moved over to the other two.

"...I-I can..we-we can find some vengestone for you, Eben...you-you'll be okay...we will be okay.."

He was scared, he didn’t understand how their powers were returning, why it was hurting them so much.

His heart ached for Eben, he looked so upset, so horribly guilty.

With that ache was an upwell of emotion, pushing over that horrible icy feeling of fear.

He reached his hand for them. “Eben, it’s- it’s okay.”

It felt so strange to talk against the petrified parts of him, but he pushed through. He needed Eben to understand that they’ll be okay.

Ebens stone hand was gripping the railing so hard it splintered the wood.

"Don't... don't tell me not to apologize."

Eben hastily pulled at his pants pockets, only to find he didn't have his gloves on him. He knew his coat was somewhere on the ship, he'd forgotten where he'd left it.

The idea of vengestone gave him some pause, he'd never heard of it of course but at this point he'd probably do anything to not have these powers.

As Roy tried to speak, Eben immediately noticed the added difficulty in doing so. He'd be in tears if he still had the ability to cry, and the way his face was pinched showed as much. He turned outward, staring at the sea so the other two couldn't see. He could control these feelings. He could. Just not now.

"It's not reversible. You both..you'll both be stuck like that for the rest of your lives"

Considering where he'd touched them, removal, at least on the face and back, would involve messing with stoned-over chunks of jaw and spine, which simply wasn't possible without serious consequence.

Inu frowned slightly before he blinked a few times. He felt a wave of sleepiness hit him and he grabbed onto the railing tigether before he ultimately let go and dropped to his knees. "S-sorry- give me.." Iny mumbled quietly before he collapsed.

Roy moved to Inu’s side so they weren’t just lying on hard wood. He looked back up to Eben, concern clear in his eyes.

“I’m okay, Eben. It isn’t- it’s not too deep, I can still move my jaw.”

He had to take a deep breath. He’s okay. Even if he wasn’t, Eben and Inu were more important right now.

“Eben. I told you I loved you when you had your powers. I-I’ve wanted to hold you and be with you before your powers were taken and I still do now. This won’t change that. I’ll always love you.”

“We can still go home.”

Eben watched as Inu fell, this time, instead of moving to hold him up he stepped back farther.

"Where, Roy? Where is home?" He asked. he sounded defeated.

He wanted to say more. he really could, but it wouldn't fix things, and it wouldn't change how he felt about them, and try as he might he knew he couldn't change how they felt about him, no matter how stupid he now found it, considering what he'd just done, and the way it proved his potential to hurt them further, hurt them worse. He feared he'd regret if he said much more.

"I love you, and I am sorry. I need to go find my coat." With that he left before either of the other two could get a word in, disapearing into the lower deck.

When he was sure he was in earshot of no one, he let out strange, angry sounds- some mix between dry sobs and yells. He hugged himself, pressing inward on the stone as if willing it into flesh. He dug so hard with his stone hand into his flesh arm that it left deep bruises, until he eventually just moved on to raking the stone up and down his arm, scraping and bruising it more. If he could not cry himself and he would not let others cry for him, he may as well feel something. It was like he was losing feeling even more now, like less and less of his body was his own, more of it becoming a casket, like a slow burial. He continued with his mimicry of crying, of grieving. His own private, early funeral.

Roy sighed heavily, he was so tired. His heart continued to ache for Eben.

Eben…. How cruel for that bastard to dangle hope in front of him like that. And once again, Roy could say nothing to help.

Static burned under his skin but he kept it down. There wasn’t time for that.

He looked down, adjusting Inu so he was hopefully more comfortable. Inu mentioned something, a stone that could maybe help Eben. He wasn’t sure if he should wake them, though….

Inu let out a small groan after about a minute or two before he sat up, wincing slightly as he touched his forehead. Inu leaned into Roy's touch for a few moments before he sighed heavily.

"...Where did....he go..?" He mumbled. "Eben...there's something that..can help..."

Roy helped Inu sit up, frowning in the direction Eben ran off in.

“I- he’s goin’ through a lot so.. he left to get his coat, think he’s takin’ some time to calm down.”

He bit his lip, frustrated. He wished he could do more, and the lighting crackling within him wasn’t helping him think. He could discharge later.

“Inu, you said something ‘bout a stone? Could we get some and bring it here?”

He nodded quickly, desperate for a solution. “It’ll help, I bet it will. Can- can we get some and bring it back? I- would it be hard for you to get back to a moving thing, though?” He didn’t want to end up in the ocean from hastiness.

He stood up, holding out a hand to help up Inu. “Let’s go find him.”
