Ekmeros quietly watched the waves roll in, not responding to Shino but definitely listening, even if he didn't show it. Man's just thinking.

Ekmeros was silent as he scratched at the strap of the viol case. Then he spoke, just loud enough to be heard over the waves. "They're tuned in intervals of fourths, with a major third in the centre. The treble viol is strung-" And for whatever reason, he felt the need to spell it out exactly. "-d’-g’-c”-e”-a”-d”’." He looked down at the surface of the beach. "Mm."

Ekmeros nodded. Well, he assumed he'd have a room - and roommates. He could clean that, at the very least.

Then he stood up. "Thank you for showing me around. I think I should find where wee are staying. I don't mean to bother you any longer..." There was an underlying small suggestion, maybe even a request, of Shino walking with him. It would be a better- easier, rather, trip with some guidance but Ekmeros felt he had consumed too much of Shino's time.

Glass had actually slept fairly well, and decided to leave for the beach early in the morning, right after the annoucements had sounded. She hadn't even looked over the fights or the rules.

Once she was on the beach, she began doing warm-up stretches and other light exercises. enjoying the colder air. She had even put on some music on her walkman, though she was using headphones.

There was distant barking, and sea birds screeching as they flew away. Glass might have not heard it with her headphones on, but the slishing and splashing of four paws on wet sand drew closer at a fast pace, and soon a big fluffy dog galloped past her, barking at birds and chasing them around. @innsjo (glass🎸+ darcy🖋+ npcs❄)

Taisto, who had not paid much attention to Glass, turned his head and slowed down, hearing her call, and wagged his tail.

"Oh no! I'm sorry! Did I scare you? Are you alright?" Taisto yelped and rushed to Glass.

Taisto whined, but his tail wagged when he heard glass laugh.

"But it's my fault! I thought I should announce right away that I'm not a real dog, so I wouldn't be concealing information like that in case it would be awkward later, but now I just ended up scaring you and oh my GOD if you had been injured because of me and you are still all sandy and wet now you'll be so cold oh God please don't catch cold, oh no...!" "Wh- not a normal dog-?" Glass kept laughing, though she seemed to be calming down from the shock. "You don't gotta worry about me. It wasn't that rough of a landing and besides, I don't get cold easily." Taisto reached his snout towards Glass' hand, sniffing and booping her fingers with his cold, wet nose, eyes wide and worried. It was this close 🤏 that he went and licked her hand as well as an apology, but he managed to pull his head back before his tongue flicked out.

"I, I see, you don't have blood", Taisto nodded, still moving nervously on his paws.

Glass's hand was very cold and hard, like a statue's hand. A statue that was made of glass. Wonder why. She also smelled like glass, and now like saltwater.

"Oh it's your name? Nice to meet you! My name is Taisto. I'm sorry I scared you!" he whined, but smiled, backing off a little.

Ah, well, hold on", he backed off a little more and transformed into his now most usual self; a tall wolf man man wolf. He still smiled nervously and apologetically, but now sitting in the wet sand in his casual outdoors wear.

Taisto's jaw dropped a little, and he just stared at her for a moment.

"Yeah! I haven't done it in a while, and I need to practice or else I might forget how to do it", he smiled easier.

He gathered his legs under himself, taking support from the sand with his hands, and was quickly shrinking in size. His clothes seemed to vanish under a quickly spreading veil of rustling feathers; large, black and gray feathers, until they shrunk as well, settling down onto a big bird that had appeared in front of Glass.

It was smaller than a raven, but larger than a magpie. Its head, beak, chest, tail and wings were black, and otherwise it was gray. It shook its head a bit, and picked up its wings, flapping them a bit, before tapping its feet on the sand, like testing how it felt under its toes. Then, it looked up at Glass with its beady eyes.

"Oh I see! These are the most common ones back home. Then we have jays and ravens and magpies and jackdaws!" It took a looong time to study them, but I finally managed to perfect this form like a year ago or so. He hopped off towards the sea, flapping his wings a little, before bouncing higher and beating his wings harder against the air. He took off, flying over the water and gaining altitude. Taisto didn't dare to try any cool tricks. Other crows always flaunted their skills around him, just to show off how bad at flying he still was, but he didn't mind. He'd rather not break his wings in a failed attempt to do a flip.

He flew a few ways over the shore, before turning back towards Glass.

Taisto dove down, reached his talons forward, and angled his wings, flapping to slow down. However, he underestimated how slippery Glass' glass arm would be, and he was sill going too fast.

"Krah!"

He slipped right off, hit Glass in the face with his wing, and fell down, luckily gaining enough control of his fall so that he could land on his feet somewhat softly. He bounced a couple of steps, before settling down and folding his wings bahind his back, and turning to look back up at Glass.

"Oh right, sand can be made into glass!" Taisto perked up, and jumped into a brief flight to flap his way back to Glass. He landed springily and folded his wings, lifting his head to peer at the girl.

"Yeah! Deer are pretty cool animals." Glass nodded.

She scooped up some sand into her hand, then cupped both hands around it, hiding it from Taisto's view. She pressed her hands together, and when she opened them, she was holding a blob of liquidy glass. It wasn't molten, but moved like a bubble of water as she shaped it. It was difficult to tell what exactly Glass was making until she revealed it.

"It's a feather," She stated the obvious, letting her glass feather glint in the low light. It was just-about life size, and was very detailed for having been made in only a few minutes. @Twig | Taisto + Yuga

Taisto tilted his head from side to side, trying to see. He stepped a little closer and stretched his neck longer, even considered jumping onto Glass' shoulder to see what she was doing, but didn't.

His crest feathers fanned up, and he bopped his head a little, seeing the feather of glass.

"Kra!" he cawed in surprised and delight, and bounced up and down, holding his wings slightly out stretched.

"It's beautiful! And you made it so fast!" he praised, and without a warning, flew up to perch on Glass' wrist to look at the item closer. @innsjo (glass🎸+ darcy🖋+ npcs❄)

Taisto snatched the feather, unfolded one of his wings, and tucked the glass feather into it. He fiddled with it for a while, trying to find a good spot, and eventually pushed the feather in. She swung her hands up in the air, and the shark leapt up from the waves by a good few feet. It had a tail with one fin significantly longer than the other, and giant, sad, black eyes. It landed in the water and continued its swim.

My grades dropped because I was so depressed that I lost my scholarships to the college I actually wanted to go to. And my mom got even more on my ass and would hardly let me leave. My dad was the one good thing in my life and Roy- took it from me. And he acts like he didn't even care."

Hannah was shaking with anger at this point, her face red and teeth clattering together.

"I'll rip him apart. I don't even care who my actual opponent is, I'll get him too. After I get the evidence I need to get him arrested, I don't care what happens. Bonaparte finally arrived, jumping in to the air by a good five feet above the wave. His intention was clearly to tackle Hannah but..

He veered off toward Glass, clearly overestimating his trajectory and landing on her instead. He knocked her straight to the ground, and flopped around on top of her. All one hundred plus pounds of him. He was a good thirteen feet long as well, including his giant tail.

"OhmygodIamsosorry-" Hannah quickly rambled off as she ran at them and pulled Bonaparte off easily. She held the thrashing thresher in her arms, seeming to have no problem lifting up just a heavy and shaking creature. @innsjo (glass🎸+ darcy🖋+ npcs❄)

"Aah!" Glass shrieked, a rather understandable reaction to being tackled by a shark. She didn't even know sharks could leap out of the water like that.

Even more unfortunately for Glass, the ground beneath her was hard and rocky. When Bonaparte hit her, she in turn hit the ground with a sharp CRACK, like the sound of a dropped cup.

When Hannah lifted up Bonaparte, she'd find Glass clutching her shoulder, trying to hide the nasty crack that'd formed across it's surface. "Oh my god, he's heavy..." She shook her head. "Ow..." @Mads|Roque🩸+Hannah🦈+Madeline

Hannah quickly took a tooth out of Bonaparte's shaking head, and he disappeared. She attached it to her necklace and rushed over to Glass, kneeling down beside her.

Glass watched in astonishment as Bonaparte disappeared, then pulled herself up off the ground as Hannah approached her.

Bonaparte continued swimming, and jumped up on to shore. He thankfully didn't knock in to either of them. He was carrying two large fish in his mouth.

"Ah, good shark!" Hannah smiled and patted him on the head. "I'm guessing you don't eat.. Uh.. do you want some raw fish for anything?"

Hannah took one of the fish, and patted Bonaparte on the head. He instantly began to devour the fish remaining in his mouth, flinging blood and scales everywhere.

"So.. yeah. That's Bonaparte. He's cooler when you can go swimming with him, but it's pretty cold right now.. I think I'd be pretty uncomfortable myself if I turned and went in the water." @innsjo (glass🎸+ darcy🖋+ npcs❄)

Hannah continued holding on to her fish, not quite doing anything with it yet..

Aaaaaand Bonaparte darted away back toward the warmer water. Seemed he'd had enough.

"I think my feet are about to freeze off." Hannah said, glancing down at her shoes. She was still standing in ankle deep water, and ice was starting to form around the top of her boots. "I should.. probably get going back inside." @innsjo (glass🎸+ darcy🖋+ npcs❄)

Eventually Enya catches up with the both of them (Hannah having had a head start and Isi just naturally being fast) but she stops just at the edge of the waves instead. “Is— We’re not going in the— in the water, are we?” She pants, trying to catch her breath in the chilly air.

Enya’s eyes widen as Bonaparte surfaces, momentary hesitation at entering the water gone. She kicks her shoes off first, then splashes into the water behind the other two. If they notice the water sizzling slightly around her, oh well. She glances at Isi curiously as Hannah calls to the shark.

Isi did hear the sizzling, but didn't pay much attention to it yet. As Bonaparte broke the surface she played an experimental few notes on her ocarina, which, ideally, lets her channel her abilities in order to communicate intentions/emotions to any animal, regardless of if she can perfectly translate their 'language' or not.

As such, with the notes she played she attempted to communicate greeting and good intentions.

"It worked!!" She told Hannah and Enya excitedly.

The huff combined with the emotions definitely gave Isi the vibe it was a question, even a greeting question, but she wasn't sure yet.

She paused in concentration for a moment before playing some more notes, the notes she'd chosen to signify her name, while gesturing to herself. Isi then played some more notes while gesturing to Hannah with one hand, as if communicating that she, Isi, was a friend of Hannah's, seeing if that would explain things a little for Bonaparte.

Isi then listened to Bonaparte again as he shook a little.

"I think he knows I'm your friend, or that he's your friend, but I think he's feeling lonely." She frowned. "Wait, no, maybe it's not exactly that..." She contemplated.

She looked at Enya. "You too if you want, never know when You're gonna need to know shark" they smiled. That is, given their fight wasn't super soon, and they had enough time to learn yk.

She then looked at Hannah. "it depends! I've figured out that if species are similar enough it's more like different accents or slang of the same language, but sometimes it's a different language that uses the same alphabet, if that makes sense."

Isi looked back at Bonaparte. "I think I'm having some luck, considering I've never talked to sealife before. It probably helps that he already knows how you talk, maybe it's helping him understand me too"

Isi listened to the whole story, feeling an indescribable little tug at her brain as Hannah continued. "I'm not exactly sure how it went for me but, if there's deer in the area they normally come when I call moreso than other animals do, so maybe it's a little like that" she shrugged.

"And it looks like we need to get to the arena anyway-"

Instead of going to the guest building, Taisto had decided to take in some fresh sea air to clear his head. He sat on the sand, and sniffed the wind. Just a big wolf chilling on the beach. He closed his eyes and listened. Hm. It almost felt like a storm was brewing. @sketti | Eben 🕶 + Isi 🍁

Isi entered the beach from the fields. It was a misty morning, it was difficult to smell much, but she still caught something over all the salt water that made her cautious, and then she saw the thing that made her cautious.

A single wolf, just sitting there staring at the water. Isi supposed they smelled enough like a wolf, but there was something a bit different, especially with the way they acted- Isi didn't know wolves to be prone to quiet beach contemplation. Besides, it was just one.

They cautiously made their way down the beach to the shore , a few yards away from the wolf, trying to get a better look at them.

Taisto looked at Isi with wide, bright eyes, and stood up, his tail swishing and his mouth opened into a smile. As a wolf, the smile wasn't as expressive and bright as it would have been in his dog form, but he was fascinated by how Isi looked, and he started walking closer to her.

"Hello!" he said. With a human man's voice.

They didn't really know what to make of him coming closer, after all a smile looks a lot like barred teeth on a wolf, but the tone seemed friendly and for now Isi remained in one spot.

"You can speak?" They asked, confused.

Taisto paused, and tilted his head a bit. Then he chuckled and shook his head at himself.

"Ah, sorry, I think I can, hold on..." He crouched, and then stood up on two legs. extending to his full height, and at the same time his form changed, his fur shortening and moving out of the way of his clothes, and soon the more human-looking Taisto stood in front of Isi. He still had his swishing tail and wolf features, but his sorrowful smile was much more human now.

"Yup, I'm Taisto. I just lost my match at the arena", he explained.

Mallon slips the bandana off their head as they go to follow, their lure glowing dimly in the light. When they finally catch up to Hannah underwater, they look noticeably different—not as much as if they became a shark, but their eyes glow along with their lure and their skin has become a scaly, darker grey mixed with a darker reddish color. Mallon swims along behind Hannah. The fin and their eyes glowing aren’t necessarily aggression, though they can be sometimes, but it’s also just what they normally look like along with their lure bobbing in front of their face. Hannah swam up until her and Bonaparte met, where they booped snouts a few times, slapping their tails around. Their faces were still pulled in to frowns, but they just naturally looked like that all the time. The only difference between them was that Bonaparte had a few scars and scratches, plus a little chunk of his dorsal fin missing, and Hannah was entirely unscathed.

Once that socializing was over, the two sharks joined Mallon in looking around for prey. @em | enya + mallon

Mallon blinks slowly, watching the two interact, and then in a flash—moving even faster than they do above water—they’re right up face to face with Bonaparte. The two sharks followed Mallon down.

The water here was pretty empty. After all, it was so cold why would anything want to be here? But surely there was something here eating the little fishes.

And finally, Hannah spotted it. She nudged Mallon with her left pectoral fin and shot her tail out upwards and ahead of them.

There were three fat bearded seals swimming by. Each one was about eight feet long, and had to have weighed nearly a thousand pounds. They didn't seem to notice the three predators beneath them yet. @em | enya + mallon

Mallon seems entirely unfazed by both the depth and the cold, their coloration darkening to blend in further the less light there is. At the sight of the seals their eye widens, the glow disappearing almost immediately as the only direct light quickly becomes their lure.

They move in slowly, shifting every now and then to keep behind the seals. Their typical way of hunting won’t be as effective here, but they’re not exactly a chaser either. Their gaze breaks away only for a moment—slowly raising their arm to wave in a circular motion before baring their teeth silently. Bonaparte and Hannah saw the motion and glanced at each other. They both swam away in different directions, going to the left and right sides of the seals, but staying safely beneath them still. It seemed like the seals were swimming out toward a large block of ice out in the distance. If they managed to get on it, it would be pretty hard to catch them. @em | enya + mallon

Mallon’s earfins flick as Hannah and Bonaparte spread out, and they slowly creep forward after the seals. It would be much easier to hunt smaller prey for them, something they could lie in wait for, but perhaps they can rework that idea. They dart ahead, swimming higher above the seals and making a break for a smaller chunk of ice up ahead and slightly to the side. Underneath it, their coloration camouflages to the best of their ability, leaving the glow of their lure flashing against the ice—like the scales of a fish. Mallon is almost entirely still, eye unblinking as they lie in wait. In fact the only movement visible is the lure. As they were approaching the seal from beneath, Hannah got a bit greedy, and rushed ahead to try to bite it. The seal finally noticed and lurched in the opposite direction, leading to Hannah flinging on right past it. Bonaparte tried to correct for that and swam in front of it, spooking it back toward the iceberg Mallon was under. It was swimming much more quickly and erratically now. @em | enya + mallon

Well, there goes that strategy. Mallon’s eyes narrows ever so slightly, tracking every movement even as they still lie frozen in wait. Thanks to Bonaparte, though, the seal’s speed sends it even closer to their hiding spot than before. And so Mallon strikes. Their lure dulls— their eye glows brighter, cutting through the darker water— and they launch themself at the seal headfirst. They’re not exactly built for taking on prey of their own size, much less this much bigger than them, but tooth and claw they’re able to hang on. The blood of the seal flowed out as Mallon latched on to it. It tried to swim away, but Mallon's grip was too tight. Spurred on by the smell of the blood in the water, Bonaparte and Hannah sped over to it. Hannah somewhat uselessly bit on to its back, while Bonaparte went for the kill. He bit down on its neck and shook, ripping a chunk of fatty flesh out. It died pretty quickly after that, going still and floating up toward the surface slowly. @em | enya + mallon

Overall, this meal was quite wasteful. It was much too big for the three of them, and was just oversized in general for threshers and their tiny mouths. By the time they had gotten their fill, most of the flesh was still left.

I've been told that it can be hard to breathe with how we'll be moving, so we won't be moving for long. The goggles were nice. They had almost a steampunk look to them to entirely protect the eyes. They were nearly made entirely out of the see-through material to minimize blindspots while sprinting.

“Alright, just enjoy the moment.” Zerada said. Yellow streaks of lightning began to appear across her body. “You can even reach out and touch the snow. It’ll- You’ll see how it all looks.”

With a deep breath, Zerada began to run.

The scene around the two of them began to slow with every step that she took. Soon, the snow stood still in the air, almost as if it was frozen by time itself, almost as if Zerada was the one to stop the world. With how fast she was running, Zerada’s footsteps took a few moments to actually appear in the snow.

Teya would be able to feel the activation of her own adrenaline, perhaps due to their shared ability of lightning. She’d be able to feel the caress of the wind against her face. While the wind wasn’t as intense as one would expect while moving so quickly, it oddly felt like a gentle, familiar touch. A soothing one.

The world almost looked lighter and brighter as she used her speed to sprint across the ground. There was a yellow tint to the world, almost as though Zerada was altering reality itself. Streaks of lightning appeared around the two of them. It was a new perspective of the world, one from the point of view of Zerada. This is what she saw every time she used her powers. In a way, it was beautiful, even if it seemed a bit off.

Zerada continued to sprint with Teya on her back. She made a sharp turn, sending up a spray of snow that froze in the air as well. It would fall once she stopped using her powers.

She began to run back in the direction they had come from before she came to a skidding halt. When she came to a stop, the snow that was frozen in mid-air began to fall at its regular pace. Everything was back in the motion in the way that the world intended it to be like.

Zerada couldn't help but smile lightly. "Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. I always love running, it helps clear my head and gives me more than enough time to think."

Teya hummed in acknowledgment, then nodded. "Alright. Whenever you're ready." She took in another breath and held it. @🌙Vanessa🌙 | Zerada⚡+ Kal⭐

Once more, the world froze around them as Zerada started to run. Surprisingly, she ran toward the water.

With her high dexterity and speed, Zerada easily was able to do her fanciest little trick: Run on water. She effortlessly carried Teya on her back as she sprinted across the surface of the water. Zerada made sure not to go too far out into the water for her own comfort, but she did go far enough that it was clear that she was running on the surface rather than stepping all the way through into the sand.

The cold front of the water wasn't noticeable. In fact, the temperature felt with this altered kind of world was comfortable. It was neither cold nor hot, just- Perfect.

Zerada continued to dart across the water before she turned around and made her way back to the shore.

When she got to the sand, she stopped quite a good distance away from the shoreline. Zerada let out a deep breath.

Zerada's smile faded slightly. "Should I have- I'm sorry, that was a bit much, wasn't it? I should've given you a heads-up about it." @innsjo (glass🎸+ darcy🖋+ npcs❄)

Zerada let out a sigh of relief. For a moment there, she was worried that she might've upset Teya. Worse than that, she had been worried that her actions may have been seen as blasphemous, that she had been imitating an almighty being. Maybe she was thinking too much into this.

Zerada crouched back down to let Teya off of her back. She looked intrigued.

Teya took off Zeraday's goggles, and handed them back to her. She broke into a smile.

Zerada took back her goggles and put them back into her pocket. She returned the smile.
