Once again, the arena has been completely transformed. This time it’s… a sort of game show set? Abstract shapes and bright, warm colors of orange, pink and gold decorate the arena. There seem to be three distinct areas- a lounge area with plush seats on the far left, a stage with a curtain back in the center, and a section with two podiums on the right. Each podium is labeled with both the contestant’s name and a score indicator, both of which are currently at 0. Above the arena hangs a large screen, so anyone in the stands can see what’s happening onstage in close-up detail. As Roman and Ryu enter, they’re led to their respective podiums. Naiyta enters the stage at the same time, now dressed for the occasion. It’s wearing tight black-leather pants, a glittery white-silver suit jacket (without a shirt on underneath it) and a pair of pink-tinted sunglasses. They’re even carrying a microphone, which they hold up to make their announcement. “Welcome, contestants and spectators, to both the eighth fight of this tournament and the very first episode of ‘WHO WANTS TO DATE THE LIFEBRINGER!’”

Roman followed the attendant to his assigned podium, somewhat anxiously looking around the arena. This was not what he had been expecting.. Bright and happy and... cheery...? And Naiyta was happy? Or at least pretending better than expected. Their outfit was also, admittedly, cute. He was surprised it even knew what, and how to use, a microphone. He smiled and waved at Naiyta. Wait, uh, who wants to date the Lifebringer? Well, seems like Naiyta had rigged it, there was no way Roman could lose against Ryu, who looked nothing like Raikal.. Well, count it as two for not expecting this kind of fight, because Ryu was also very confused. She looked around the arena as she walked up to her podium and gave Roman a look, up and down. He said nothing, however, and turns back towards the Lifebringer. "What is this? A sort of speed-dating game show?" He huffed. @innsjo | kyrie🪶+ darcy🖋+npcs

Naiyta paused to let a pre-recorded cheer track play before continuing. “Today, our wonderful contestants- Roman Kimbalyauro Ricci of the Bird side (any pronouns) and Ryuoske Suijinyouri Yasuda of the Snake side (she/he)- will compete not only for their lives, but for the affections of our four stunning singles- but! Before we meet the bachelors, let’s go over the rules first.” It made its way over to where Ryu and Roman were waiting, making eye contact with a camera that wasn’t there instead of the contestants. “Now, our two lovely contestants here will have to compete in three categories- bedding, wedding, and beheading- or, in simpler terms, it’s fuck-marry-kill.” It let out a sharp, piercing laugh. “Each contestant will select one bachelor for each task- the only catch being, they both can’t pick the same one. The first choice will be decided by a coin flip. But the specifics of the tasks will be explained as they happen. Without further ado, let’s meet our bachelors!” A light musical fanfare played as Naiyta walked back over to the stage. The curtain began to rise…

The first figure to be revealed by the rising curtain was a tall, somewhat-muscular man with deep brown skin and square shoulders. His braided down hair highlights his high cheekbones, heavy brow, and decided square jaw. He wore a purple-red suit with a russet-colored tie, which he wore loose and untied around his neck. He looked onto the contestants with a melancholy, reserved thoughtfulness. “Our first bachelor is the melancholic, mysterious Anore Xa Ilftaidos. The second ever reigning Lifebringer, Anore likes to spend his evenings playing harp, discussing philosophy, and making plans for Corvi liberation. Though he rarely shows anything he feels, he feels incredibly strongly, and would like to find someone to share those feelings with.” Anore gave both competitors a curt nod in acknowledgement. “A pleasure to meet you both.”

The next figure revealed by the curtain was a woman with warm brown skin and a square, flat face. Her muscular build is hidden underneath the layered pantsuit she’s wearing, and her hair is mostly tied back in an olive-green headscarf. Her pale green eyes look out onto the contestants with a contained ferocity- a magnitude of energy contained just beneath the measured surface. “Our second bachelor is the one and only Iydelan Dorosi. During her reign as the third Lifebringer, Iydelan made a name for herself as a disciplined, awe-inspiring military commander. She’s looking for a partner that can match both her combat prowess in a duel and her wit in a debate. Despite her reputation as a cold-hearted warrior, there’s a lot to love about Iydelan once you melt her frosty exterior.” Iydelan gave Roman and Ryu a stiff bow. “Eternity’s blessing upon you both.”

The third bachelor to be revealed by the curtain was another woman, with a full figure, porcelain-pale skin, and rosy pink wavy hair, worn half up in a bun and half loose around her shoulders. She walks onto the stage with an easy grace, holding up the skirts of her flowing, multicolored dress as she walks. There’s a smug, sly look in her eye, as if she knows something you don’t, and is very amused by it. “Our next contestant is the spectacular Saiytsa Senchaidiyeit! Though perhaps best known for her efforts to incentivise democracy during her reign as the fourth Lifebringer, there’s far more to Saiytsa than a liberal-minded politician. Saiytsa’s looking for someone she can shower in all the affection and love she holds in her heart. Saiytsa is artistic, romantic, and a gifted poet, and she’s as open with her affections as she is with her opinions.” Saiytsa dropped into a deep curtsey, still looking at Ryu and Roman. “Charmed to make your acquaintance.”

The fourth and final figure hiding behind the curtains was a tall, lean person with warm brown skin and long, dark hair. They wore a simple, modest outfit that consisted of warm and dark colors, and wore their dark hair slicked back close to their skull. They looked onto the contestants with a barely-disguised disinterest, like they’d rather be anywhere but here. “Our final bachelor is the fifth reigning Lifebringer, Ttakeqeri Xeytshi. Though they might seem cold and standoffish at first, Ttakeqeri has a heart of gold once you get to know them. They’re fiercely determined and unyielding in their beliefs. Despite being a bit of a workaholic, they’ll always make time for those they care about, and will always make sure your needs are met.” Ttakeqeri gave a slightly mocking bow and sighed. “Pleased to meet you both.”

ANORE!!! Wait- what were the ethical implications of this all since he was related to Raikal-.. Uh, best to not think of that yet.. Roman listened intently through the descriptions, trying to mentally pick out who the best for each category would be for him.. But he felt a connection to Anore- a blood connection. That blood he drank at the beginning... It really had been Anore's, he was fucking guessing about that! While Roman had a immediate connection to one of the bachelors, Ryu had her eyes lingering on Iydelan and Saiytsa. They both seemed relatively interesting, but she wasn't quite sure which would accept her advances better. Ryu's gaze turned back towards Roman, a small smile crept on her lips. Roman was too busy gawking at the Lifebringers for a moment, and delayed his response to Ryu. ".. Uh, sure.." Roman mumbled in response. "And also, just to warn you, I don't want to lose in this arena anymore. I can't lose. So I'm sorry." @Aj | Invo + Ryunoske

Naiyta returned to the two contestants as the other Lifebringers began to file over to the lounge area. “Now, we’ll decide who gets the first pick.” It held up a small coin that was engraved on one side with an image of a bird in flight, and on the other side with a coiled up snake. “We’ll do one flip for each category, and the winner will get first pick of who they want for that category. Roman's grip on his podium increased as Ryu made her choice. He would have to interfere before that, he didn't want Ryu killing him.. Couldn't choose Anore, shouldn't say you're going to kill the one you're trying to seduce.. He didn't have a choice. "Ttakeqeri." Anore looked suddenly very nervous, and avoided Ryu's gaze. Ttakeqeri just looked annoyed.

The stage began turning, like it was on a turntable, to reveal a new area. This was another comfortable lounge area with two plush seats and a bottle of wine (and two wine glasses) on a side table. “The first challenge is simple. Of course- nothing that will happen will be anything that can’t be shown on TV,” Naiyta winked at the invisible camera, “Instead, our contestants will have to win over the Lifebringer of their choosing with their charisma.”

Contestants roll 3 charisma checks during their conversation with the Lifebringer. The outcome of these roles will determine how many points they get. The total amount of points awarded is the average of all three checks.

After the first challenge, Ryu and Roman were led back to their podiums with their new point counts displayed next to their names. “Whoa! It’s getting steamy in here!” Naiyta said to the camera. “Let's cool it down by moving to the next challenge. Now, any marriage to a Lifebringer would be a heavily political one. Let’s see how well our contestants can keep up with their chosen partners’ policies!” The stage once again turns to reveal a new area, this time a table with two chairs facing each other. Just behind the table is a large wheel labeled with various topics.

Challenge 2: Marry 

Contestants engage in a political debate with their chosen partner and are awarded points based on how well the conversation goes (maximum of 20, minimum of 1). Contestants have 3 intelligence checks they can use to think up more impressive or relevant responses. Every int roll 10-15 results in +1 being added to the final point score. Every int roll above 15 results in +3 being added to the final point score.

After the second challenge, Naiyta returned to center-stage. “Nooowww it’s time for our final challenge. This one’s pretty simple- but also really exciting!” The stage area shifted once again to reveal a small boxing arena. “Now the contestants will have to fight! Not each other, mind you. They’ll duel the opponents they selected earlier!”

Challenge 3: Kill

Contestants will fight their chosen opponent in combat to 9 hp or less, OR concession. If the contestant wins the fight, they get a bonus of 20 points. If they fail or concede the fight, 10 points are subtracted from their total.

Ryu raised a brow as the boxing arena was risen, but it was a familiar sight. She walked up to the stage, looking up towards those who came to watch the fight. She spotted Enya, her gaze growing soft for just a moment before turning her head away. It'll be fine, whatever way this turned out. (GORE TW) As Ryu approached Anore, Roman figured now was his chance to act. From outside the ring he stared at Ryu, and forced his will over her. Near instantly, her pupils turned a stark white, and she retrieved the bone knife from her pocket. What Anore may have perceived as a potential attack quickly shifted- Ryu turned the blade toward herself. Without any pause, she sunk the blade in to the right side of her midsection and sliced smoothly left. A clean, deep cut through her.. And- ough- yeah, those were some intestines beginning to slip out.. His hold over her stopped, and her eyes returned to normal. Roman knew that this injury was livable for a time, so it's not like he was going to kill Ryu before Naiyta could get to her. He had lived like this for.. Hmm.. In one step, Ryu's vision went black, and in the next, she was stumbling onto the floor of the ring, blood spilling and a few of her intestines hanging out like worms. She choked up blood, grunting in pain and shock. That wasn't Anore. She knew it wasn't. Her head slowly turned back towards Roman, her gaze wide like a beast. "I'll be right back, Anore," she says through her bloodied teeth. With one hand, she holds her gut (literally), and goes up to Roman in an instant. She stabs Roman with the same knife, shoving it into the side of his neck, not enough to stop his breathing, not enough to cut any vocal cords either, but just to cause pain. Ryu's eyes turned white again, and she released Roman. He crumpled up on the ground next to her, holding his hands over his neck. "What i-is there to fix-?" Ryu choked out before blacking out once again. She stood just long enough to stab herself, but once she regained control, she was falling back onto the ground. She landed in pain, blood and guts spilling out openly as she laid there. Her hand stayed on the knife by her heart, and she stared upwards with a contorted expression. More blood spilled from Ryu's body as she stabbed herself again, and the pain echoed throughout her body. Her intestines were torn yet moving, trying to find their place in Ryu's open wound. As Roman got closer, he'd see a strange substance moving throughout Ryu's body from her wound. It was red and green in color, moving in a vigor in the open air. There was the faint smell of smoke from it. Instictively, Ryu's hands shot up to grab Roman, but in her weakened state, there was no strength to them and they limply fall back onto the ground. Roman's words sounded faint and distant, but she could still tell what he was trying to do. Pity, at this moment? She would laugh if she could. Ryu was seeing white, Roman's voice even further away. God, why did it have to be his voice that she hears at her last moments? Literally, anyone else would of been fine. ...Preferably either Enya or Val in this particular moment if she could choose, but that was her being selfish as usual. Whatever strength she had left, she used it to search the crowd for her girls. Again, she spots them, but in her state, it's hard to tell exactly what they look like. As Ryu fell unconcious, the other Lifebringers vanished into the air. Naiyta cautiously approached Ryu's body, crouched down, and put it's hand to her forehead. Ryu would die in his sleep, without even fully realizing it. Naiyta turned back to Roman, and put a hand to his shoulder, instantly healing all his wounds. "You won." It smiled. Roman closed his eyes as Naiyta approached, not wanting to see the end of this. As soon as he figured it was over, and Naiyta had healed him, he latched on to its leg as tightly as he could. He at first was crying silently, but it quickly devolved to full out pathetic sobbing. "I-I want to go, please, l-let's leave.."
