"But he wasn't hiking it on a path or- any place we have routed. He was climbing straight up it. "Look, if I hadn't intervened I am one thousand percent sure he would've gone up there in a t-shirt. And he didn't fall or get injured- he made it down fine, so why does this matter in the first place?" Astrid gestured wildly as she spoke. "I won't let anyone else climb the volcano. "And Roque made a request for 'something to read' to 'stop her yapping', I doubt she was being honest about that making her be quiet, but if you want to pursue it Teya suggested a prayer book. You should confirm that with someone higher up first, though. I can't imagine what she could do with one of those but.. Madeline woke up on her bed, alone. The door had been locked, though she could easily unlock it if she wished. A glass of water had been set on her desk by whomever had put her there- probably Yeonaixho. @Mads|Roque🩸+Hannah🦈+Madeline

Madeline spent a while not moving a muscle from the position she had been placed in. It felt like two tons of bricks were pressing down on her from all angles. Even breathing felt like a task that took considerable effort for each one passing through her lungs.

She finally reached out toward the glass of water after laying there for who knows how long, her arm slinking across her bed toward the edge of the desk where the water sat. Her arm trembled as it reached out toward the glass, her finger managing to barely reach toward the rim. She attempted to grab it, but instead simply pulled it over, spilling water all over her desk and sending the glass rolling toward the edge of the desk. Her arm moved with slightly more urgency to try to catch it, but she couldn't reach it before it careened off the edge and shattered on the hard ground. She let her arm fall limply off the side of the bed, sighing deeply. @innsjo (glass🎸+ darcy🖋+ npcs❄)

The jangling of keys could be heard outside the door, and then the door unlocking. Petrai stepped in with a tray of food- another glass of water, and a bowl of porridge.

Whenever she had porridge before, it was entirely plain. She couldn't really remember the last time she ate something she didn't get herself from the kitchen.. But now she could eat different stuff, not that her diet restriction really seemed to help her much before anyway.

It wasn't much of a use playing the blame game back and forth, so Madeline decided to end it there. They probably could have went all day. She forced a small smile on to her lips, but it didn't spread to the rest of her face.

"I will try my hardest from here on.. Maybe I'll have a.. Half-second-chance, if people think I am different from how I was with my powers.." Madeline suggested. Only, she didn't feel that different. The same kind of thoughts were going through her head as before, only now, she didn't feel as compelled to act on them. Because she couldn't. "Is everyone else going to know what I did..? Madeline made it back to her room, with a large amount of effort. Each step she took felt like she had weights attached to her ankles that were gaining a few ounces every second. She had to stop and rest against the wall a few times on her short trip back to her room.

But she did eventually make it. She pushed her door open and stumbled inside, managing to close it behind her by leaning against it. She had to rest again, before she could take the last few steps over toward her bed.

The porridge and water sat on her desk, untouched. That last interaction had ruined her appetite, her stomach was too filled with dread to eat a single bite. With one final push, she leaned away from her door and took lopsided steps over to her bed, where she collapsed. Something in her chest ached, and she couldn't tell if it some residual effect of losing her powers or how miserable she felt in addition to that.

She tried not to ponder on that for too long as she squeezed her eye shut and threw her blanket over herself.

Madeline quickly moved the blanket over her face. She knew if she had a really strong reaction, she might be able to summon Petrai, but it would be likely that the ghost would 'vanish' again before Petrai would get there, and then.. She tensed, holding the blanket tighter. This ghost- it felt so real. She knew it was- maybe if she found it here for the first time she could write it off as some stress-induced delusion, but she knew she had seen it lurking during peace times as well. As soon as the name 'Jymaiyri' was uttered, the woman's hand dissapeared from Madeline's shoulder. A moment of silence followed, and the woman began to speak again. But her voice didn't carry the same emotion, or the same cadence. Even stranger was what she was saying.

"Don't give me that face, you know I'm right. You are, you're giving me that face again. You don't believe me. Oh, come on, you always give me the same face when you don't believe me." The woman looked normal, if normal meant 'not decomposing'. What was strange was that she appeared almost ten years younger than how Madeline had seen her ever before. She wore a simple tunic cross-wrapped around her body, with big sleeves that gathered at her elbows. She had on a simple skirt and an apron, and wore laced sandals instead of being barefoot as she normally was. Her dark hair was longer, and piled into a simple bun, though her head was wrapped in a headscarf. She carried a basket at her hip, and looked up and off to the side, her gaze distanced from Madelines.

For a while she was silent. "I mean, you can beg and plead and bargin all you want, if ending up as a corpse is your goal. I doubt he'd even spare the expense to cremate you." @Mads|Roque🩸+Hannah🦈+Madeline

"There are thousands of other places on the isles we can hide. There's the ports, the countryside. It's easy to dissapear here." A pause, and she laughed. "Ha! Could you imagine it? Yeah, it had went on all night. At least for the sake of the people stuck in the rooms next to her, her voice had gone pretty hoarse after the first two hours or so. Her obnoxious sniffling could still be heard throughout the night. Along with that, she'd occasionally hit the wall, either with her hand or her head and just sit there.

Besides for that movement, she hadn't made a move since Petrai left. The glass of water and bowl of porridge sat untouched on her desk, where it would probably remain indefinitely.

Inside her room, Madeline had placed the jar down on her table. She sat and stared at the unmoving creature for a while, debating on if she should open the lid or not...

She finally decided that she should at least test something out. She carefully untwisted the lid and grabbed the glass of water from the table. There was a foul odor on the inside of the jar once the lid was removed- it... It smelled a lot like her sludge did. Definitely connected somehow.

She poured a bit of the water in and closed the lid, sitting back down to watch it.

It took nearly ten minutes, but the worm moved. It shifted one way, opening up its terrifying mouth and taking in some of the liquid. Madeline's eyes widened as she moved in closer, resting her chin on her desk as she examined it.

"How are you still alive after all these years..?" Madeline asked softly.

Yuga's eyes were wide, and his nose wiggled. His tail was swishing nervously, and he held the crossbow as ready as he could, though his arms were getting tired. He tried to listen for anything alarming, and tried to find and follow Ryunoske's scent.

Yuga raised the bow, aiming at the two guards, growling lowly.

"Don't hurrrt Isi. Wherrr is Rrrryuuunoske?" Yuga asked with a calm, deep voice, that still sounded like a large dog growling. His neck fur was fully bristled, and his tail started snakeing behind him in large motions. There were supposed to be nine, and the movement was supposed to overwhelm and intimidate, or even hypnotise his prey or opponent, but right now it didn't give much of an impression.

The lance hit home. She yelped, falling to her knees, vision cutting out for a moment. She tried to speak and couldn't.

She hasn't even had time to react, she hadn't expected an attack that fast, and she hated herself for not seeing it coming.

Yuga dodged out of the way as Judas lunged forward. His brain didn't quite register if he wanted to shoot or hit Judas, ending up moving the crossbow abruptly and clumsily, hitting himself painfully on the chin, with a sharp whine. Pathetic.

Isi let out a pained cry when the lance was removed. She began bleeding profusely from the wound the second it was out. She wanted to attack so badly but even on her knees she felt like she was going to pass out. Still, as a show of strength, she shakily stood up. She looked at Yuga, and then at the two armed guards.

"Yuga, go, there's-... no point" Her breathing was laboured. She had a feeling he wouldn't leave. Blood slipped through the hands she had placed over her wound.

Yuga's ears flattened as he stared wide-eyed how the weapon was yanked out of Isi with a flash of red. The smell of blood was infuriating, intoxicating. His lips curled and his muzzle wrinkled, and he licked his nose and lips, shaking.

His eyed darted to Shino as he spoke, and the fox' eyes started to shine a brigher red.

"You... you kill for trrresspassing? I'm trrrrespassing rrrright now! Leave Isi alone, and kill me if you can!" he screamed, his fur standing on end, his tail lashing wildly in complex motions. His pupils were narrowing into tight, brightly shining slits of light, and the red burned in his eyes like fire. He threw his weapon to the ground, and charged at Judas with his jaws wide and claws outstretched. He pushed the man further away from his friend, grabbed him like he was going to tackle hug him, but instead sunk his fangs into his shoulder, biting down seriously, and even ripping and tearing the flesh by moving his head from side to side.

Isi tried to lunge at Shino, but due to the dizzying blood smell and the dizzying loss of blood, missed and stumbled into the wall instead, which she then used to support herself.

Yuga ripped himself away from Shino, which in itself wasn't much of an effort since he wasn't held forcibly. He locked eyes with Judas, vengeance and rage radiating from his gaze. It felt like it was burning Judas' mind. The fox' eyes seemed to fill his vision, penetrate into his skull, like they could see everything in his brain. Digging deeper, seeping into the darkest nightmares, and pulling them out.

Judas's deepest, darkest nightmares were the sound of explosions and screams. They were the taste of dried blood on his lips and the scent of gunpowder. They were the cold, heavy sensation of the rifle caried in his hands, his finger on the trigger. Judas's nightmares manifested in all of that-

But they also manifested in a man. A tall man, with broad shoulders and a muscular frame. He wore a olive-blue military uniform, decorated in medals; his chestnut hair cropped close to his skull on one side and hanging loose on the other. The left side of his face had been entirely torn off, exposing bone and cartilage, even his eye had been removed, though his crystal-blue gaze peered sharply down at Judas from the other. The crisp integrity of his uniform jacket was marred by a number of bullet holes, from which he was bleeding profusely. His hands. balled into fists, were burnt and scarred.

"P- Peter-" Judas sobbed, as he fell to his knees. He couldn't take his eyes off the man.

Yuga's expression didn't change. He didn't flinch, when his powers brought this nightmare to life. If anything, he was mildly surprised his powers had stepped in like this, for the second time in his life. Once the nightmare had Judas occupied, Yuga grabbed Shino, and with a great effort and a roar, threw him over his shoulder and to the ground.

Yuga went and grabbed Isi, and started pulling her into a run, past the men, so they could get somewhere safe to treat her wounds.

As the teens booked it, the nightmare still presisted for now, continuing its assault.

Though they didn't fully realize it, this was also familiar to Isi, escaping with a likely-fatal wound, trying to find a quiet place to rest. This time, she wasn't on her own.

After they'd gotten a bit away, Isi gave a yell and gestured at a door they were approaching that could serve as a place to hide. She didn't think she could run anymore, they had to stop.
