Noah stood in the dining hall with a rather annoyed look on his face. Great. Guests were here! Which meant more work. Internally he heard the others dedicants to 'smile more' but the thought just made him scowl.

So, what else could he do? Clean, he guessed. People wouldn't interrupt him then, right? Noah let out a huff of air through his nose and grabbed a rag, heading to one of the tables.

Hopefully he wouldn't be distributed...

Isi took themselves and the kid to the dining hall as fast as possible, he did not look good and she kept casting worried glances at him and making sure he hadn't stopped in the path or something. They finally arrived, and thankfully the dining hall seemed warmer than even the the dorms had been. They held the door for Yuga.

Yuga held the collar of the cloak to the sides of his head, his ears low and his now poofy tail around his waist, but was still violently shaking from the cold of the morning. His breathing was sounding more and more raspy, and he coughed every now and then. He didn't notice Isi throwing glances at him - if he had noticed, he might've felt more suspicious - but he looked up when he felt the warm air from the door waft against his face.

He staggered inside.

Isi smiled despite the situation. "Oh neat, that's what I was gonna get for myself too-" She didn't comment on his voice, going off to get them both some tea. She had so many questions but doubted he was gonna be able to answer any right now. Soon enough, they were back with two mugs of hot tea, setting one down by Yuga, sitting down near him herself.

"I wonder when everyone else is gonna come down to eat" Isi thought aloud. She wasn't expecting or asking for a response, but it felt weird to just sit in silence drinking tea. also, she wanted to see Roy again.

Yuga waited silently, keeping his head low. When Isi came back and put the mug in front of him, he looked up, and nodded as a thanks. He wrapped his hands around the mug carefully, and leaned his snout over it to breathe the warm fragrant steam. It felt nice.

Yuga blew on the tea's surface, and took a careful sip. It really felt good in his sore throat. It was also good to get some water, after sweating quite a bit during the night.

Yuga listened, sometimes nodding or shifting his ears or changing his expression to show he was listening and understanding- or in some cases not understanding. He occasionally coughed, but otherwise didn't make much sounds as he slowly sipped on his tea. His head was aching, but the tea was nice, and Isi seemed to be relatively safe. He hoped.

The door leading from the dining room into the kitchen opened, and out walked Albanes. She was hesitant with worry and discomfort, and kept glancing around nervously. Behind her followed another dedicant, Hang- just as worried, but a bit better at hiding it. The third person to walk out was Peregrine.

An unstable, bleeding Peregrine. He was followed by Petrai, who kept her head high and her crossbow ready. They certainly made a scene, catching the eye of everyone in the dining hall. @soul | peregrine 🎭 + ekmeros 🎻

Peregrine stumbled forward, his wings awkwardly shifting to fold on his back, hiding something. He glanced up at the dining hall and shook his head as if mildly entertained. The smile didn't reach his eyes, that he closed to hide something again, and looked so tremendously fake. He opened his mouth to laugh - and didn't. No laugh came out.

Isi looked up as soon as the door opened. They stopped in their tracks and watched the procession, they watched Peregrine, looking worried and concerned, in high contrast to their earlier behaviour towards Peregrine. It looked like they were going to step over to ask what was going on, but then they looked at Yuga and didn't.

Yuga's ears ticked to the yelling from the kitchen. When the door opened, he looked its way, and when Peregrine stepped out, the fox' eyes widened.

His muzzle wrinkled, his neck fur stood up, and he bared his teeth. He tried to growl and back off, but his throat flared up with tearing pain and he lost his balance, slumping back down on the chair with a hacking cough.

Isi tried to catch Yuga a little before he fell, succeeding a little in that he fell into the chair and not on the floor.

"I know- I know, he's not great but was- is all this necessary? What happened?" She asked no one in particular, her words a whisper.

They stayed by Yuga. Going up against Petrai and the two dedicants felt like a lost cause. She hoped she'd get to talk to her friends about this later.

Yuga whipped his arms around to push Isi's hands away. He took a few raspy breaths, looking over the scene again. He didn't know Peregrine, and he didn't know why he was all beat up, but the fact that Petrai was herding him along with the crossbow in hand was making him scared. He didn't know these people, and what they were capable of, and he didn't know what was going on- which meant he could as well be in danger.

He stood up again, not any steadier, and looked around hastily. He felt trapped underground. He wanted to run, get out, hide.

There were two pairs of stairs, two elevators, and a couple of doors. Where to? Anywhere where the church staff wasn't.

He took a few steps away, turned around and stumbled away.

Isi jumped back as if Yuga had bit her, ears down turned. They shook their head, it wasn't aggression, he wasn't being aggressive it's just fear, Isi simply wasn't prepared.

They tried to speak, but upon turning to look at Petrai, any words died on their tongue. They followed Yuga, both intent on leaving the hall and on not leaving him.

Isi kept on looking back as if worried about being followed, slipping into the hallway with him. She really wished she knew his name, or something. It wasn't difficult for her to keep up with him, and now that all the smells of the dining hall were gone she could focus more easily. She'd seen the procession begin to leave the hall, but kept checking for followers anyway.

"They're not following, its okay! You don't have to keep running!" Isi called after him. At a certain point she stopped running alltogether, she could see down the length of the hallway and yknow, Isi had never liked being chased, why would he?

Her anxiety was heightened by just how unsteady he'd been previously, the running had to be unpleasant. She wished there was someone else close by that would know what to do.

She parted from Madeline to go to the buffet. She served herself some pancakes, a side of bacon, some fruits, and a glass of juice.

When she glanced around the dining hall, she made a face at the sight of Kal. Thank god he hadn’t seen her yet. Good. He could stay in his own little bubble. Zerada definitely wanted to stay in her own.

Kal made his way over and slung an arm over her shoulder, giving her a tight squeeze. Zerada, meanwhile, looked dead inside.

Seems like their stomach is taking priority for the moment.

Yuga is walking a lot steadier than yesterday, but his step is still very heavy and he coughs and shivers once they are finally indoors again. He follows behind Mallon, out of curiosity if nothing else. Once in the dining hall, he makes sure he doesn't get too close to anyone there and that nobody gets to sneak behind him. He sniffs at the food, but his nose still can't pick up smells too well. He ends up taking a small bowl of porridge, and a cup of warm tea.

Mallon reappears somewhat out of the blue at the table they’d chosen, holding a plate piled high with what looks like a variety of sushi types. They spare a small glance at Yuga’s choice of breakfast—more like a late brunch now at this point, but it’s not like they’re aware of that concept—before they take their seat and dig in. Or well, dig their hands in. They meticulously tear apart the rolls, digging out any of the fishy parts and discarding everything else to the side of the plate. Their gaze flicks back up to Yuga again, almost questioningly for a moment before they seem to talk themself out of whatever it is they’re thinking.

Yuga stares at how Mallon eats the sushi. That's... certainly one way to do it. He looks back into Mallon's eyes when they look at him, but doesn't initiate a conversation either. At least yet. He just coughs softly a bit, and shrugs, starting to eat his porridge.

"...You don't like rice?" he asked after a while.

That’s not what they’re displaying, though, as they seem to hold their breath and then the thinner, hardly visible lines of gills on the side of their neck flare out and open for a few seconds. As soon as they close again Mallon sucks in a sharp breath, saying with a faint strain to their voice, “That’s gills.” @Twig | Taisto + Yuga

Yuga doesn't comment on Mallon's scar or eye-patch, knowing there are things people would rather not talk about, but his eyes pop wide open as Mallon displays the gills. His ears shift slightly back for a moment, when he notices the strain in their voice.

As soon as Roque was out, she was taking some deep breaths.

She did not look as well as Kal, despite being down there a similar amount of time. Dried blood decorated her chin and lips, as well as a few drops on to her clothes.

She seemed to have lost a bit of weight, but that was hardly the most notable thing that changed about her.

Her hair? The long, wild curls she usually flaunted? Gone. All that remained was a shitty, patchy buzz that looked hand made.

... But probably the biggest change off all, her eyes were gone. There was no scars or obvious injury but-.. She just had no eyes anymore. Entirely blind.

That didn't stop her from feeling her way across the wall and out of the dining room, leaving a trail of crimson lines on the wall from where her fingers made contact.

"Even if someone approaches us, I made sure to get people only capable of fighting at the moment. If we end up having to fight, we should be fine," Ryu commented, more so to Petrai than anyone else. She glanced at the women (and Roy) and smiled.

Stealth was not Roy’s strong suit, but at least the element of surprise was NOT on their enemy’s side.

He laughed a little at the idea of drinks. God, he could use it.

Nothing for him to add, he’s just going along with what they say. It seems like Ryu and Petrai have much more experience with things like this anyway.

"I could so use a drink after this..." Valerie mumbled in agreement. "With my powers I can give us an advantage with stealth. I can perhaps change the floor briefly." She bent down and touched the floor.

As Valerie touched the floor a small patch quickly turned to wood before it returned to normal as she lifted her hand. "I can change the floor to sand perhaps so it's quieter for us."

Ryunoske took out a cigar as everyone else spoke. God, she fucking needed one after everything, and she was going to need one for this group mission. "I can create a smokescreen for us if things get dicey, I can also put people to sleep to let us pass without trouble," she hummed.
